  First, I want to say that everyone I interacted with, from the person who answered my call to the person who checked me in, provided excellent customer service. Before coming to Mavis, I went to Discount Tire in Garner. They told me my tire could not be plugged and had to be replaced, but they did not have my size in stock and would need to order it. I almost went ahead with that, but decided to stop by BJ’s Tire Center to see if they had my size. BJ’s did not have it either and offered to special order it, but their mechanic suggested I call Mavis if I needed the tire fixed the same day, because Mavis usually keeps many sizes in stock. I am very glad I followed that suggestion. I called Mavis around 10:00 a.m. The person who answered was very professional, asked for my tire size, confirmed they had it in stock, clearly explained the total price for the tire and the work, and set up an 11:00 a.m. appointment. When I arrived, a very polite gentleman greeted me, checked me in, and told me it would be about an hour. The atmosphere felt very different from Discount Tire, where it seemed like there were almost as many people at the front desk as there were mechanics, and I constantly felt like I was being upsold. At Mavis, it appeared to be mostly mechanics working, and there was no pressure or upsell vibe. When my car was evaluated, the store manager, Ryan, came out and explained that because my car is all‑wheel drive, selling me just one new tire could cause problems and that I would really need at least two. Discount Tire never mentioned this and was ready to sell me a single tire. Ryan then told me that in this case the screw hole in my tire could actually be plugged and patched safely, so he recommended repairing the tire instead of replacing it, and he gave me a great deal on the repair. That kind of honesty and straightforward customer service is rare and very much appreciated. Based on this experience, I plan to return to Mavis later this year when it is time to replace all four of my tires.

  I’m very surprised to see the amount of 5 star reviews at this location. The staff are kind but will have you waiting around all day for something very simple and general maintenance. I arrived at this location at 12:00 noon on Saturday. I was told it would originally take 1 and a half hours to 2 hours. We are at the 3 hour mark, and they are FINALLY just bringing my car to the alignment machine. To be transparent, I came for an oil change, alignment, balance and rotation. I was pacing the lobby until someone finally came up to me to let me know my car was next in line for an alignment. I walked to the Walmart, lazily shopped around for what I needed and even looked around a little. Walked back to Mavis to find my car was STILL not on the alignment machine. Instead, the machine was completely empty because they were out test driving the Tesla in front of mine. Setting up proper expectations is the right thing to do. If I had known it was going to take 3 and a half to 4 hours, I wouldn’t have minded IF THEY JUST COMMUNICATED!! I would have paid for the Uber home so I didn’t waste my whole day. When speaking with other customers who were waiting, I was astounded to hear some people had been waiting since 9:30am. No one I spoke to as a customer had been in and out in less than 3-4 hours. They have fair pricing; but make sure to either drop your car off or wait for multiple hours. They do not supply any coffee or tea, no snacks or vending machines, the only essentials they have is a rest room (not well maintained) and water fountains. I’ve been to hole in the wall car shops- not big name- who provide better customer service while you wait. They have obvious safety hazards as well. I was here over a year ago, and they have high top seats- the one to the far right is broken. The seat cushion/top is able to moved and removed posing a giant risk to your customers. I’ve included a photo. It’s been over a year and still not been fixed. They have a nice filtered water machine for their employees out back (as they should) but nothing for customers- yet they have wall decals bragging about their customer service. I’ll be setting myself a reminder not to come back here again. On top of all of this; I wasn’t provided an estimate of the costs prior to service, I wasn’t able to find any pricing available online, which should have been my initial red flag. Pep Boys in the area is also awful. Next to try is Meineke and hope it’s better there.

  My visit started and ended at the service counter. I went to get a quote for a full set of tires. The two people behind the counter a woman and a man only provide details for one brand of tires, no other options, I even asked if there were other brands of tires available for my car and was advised there was not. You sell tires and my car was just a plain Nissan Rogue. But never mind, Discount Tires provided several options and better customer service.

  I had an amazing experience at Mavis Tires in Clayton, NC getting my new tires installed. Ryan Younge, moses, and Bishnu are hands down the best technicians not just in North Carolina, but in all of America! They were professional, fast, knowledgeable, and treated me with great respect from start to finish. The service was honest, the work quality was outstanding, and my car drives perfectly now. If you need new tires or any tire service, I highly recommend Mavis Tires in Clayton, NC. Huge thanks again to Ryan, moses, and Bishnu for the excellent customer service and expert work!

  I had a great experience with Mavis Tire & Brakes. Moses and his team were respectful, professional, and genuinely took the time to understand my issue. They got everything taken care of quickly and efficiently, and I haven’t had any problems since. It’s hard to find places with customer service this reliable and honest. I’ll definitely continue coming here for any future tire or brake needs. Highly recommend!
