0 STARS. Can’t even do a simple oil change without forgetting to replace the oil cap, causing us to be stranded on the side of road waiting for AAA or cause engine failure. Is there any sort of recourse for paying $75 for a failed oil change?

AVOID AT ALL COSTS DO NOT GO HERE AT ALL!!!!!! CURRENTLY ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD BECAUSE THEY DIDN’T PUT MY FUEL CAP ON CORRECTLY. OIL LEAKED OUT AND MY ENGINE IS BURNT. GO TO PEP BOYS.
I made an appointment for 1pm, when I showed up there were three cars in the garage and two slots open. I needed an oil change, tire rotation, and tire patch. The guy helping me even confirmed when I dropped it off they would patch it if they could, or come notify me if it needed to be replaced. I asked how long the wait would be, he said don’t worry there’s only one car in front of you. They didn’t pull my car into the garage until 3pm. Now it’s 4:15pm and I'm finally watching my car be suspended and this guy is poking at it. I’ve barely seen anyone in the garage working on cars. They're either walking around, on their phone (maybe asking chatGPT how to patch a tire), or on the computer. I've been here almost 3.5 hours now and they still haven’t told me if the tire is patchable or not. But don’t worry, the girl that had her car towed in an hour ago already has her car being worked on and someone just came to update her on it. I’m unsure what is happening but I know I will not be getting a new tire here if they come back and say it’s not patchable. I’ll stick to the dealership from now on. A little communication goes a lot way. If I knew it was going to take this long I would have had my husband pick me up. I could have Ubered home. I have things to do!
Update: 4:38pm
Two people now have come in after me and already left before me. They see me staring from the window but they refuse to make eye contact, acknowledge me, give me an update maybe. There's no one behind the desk for me to ask either.
Update: 4:41pm
The man helping me just came in here and said “oh, you wanted a tire patch too?” LOL you cannot make this up. Almost 4 hours here and that is the first time he has acknowledged me in the waiting room. Declined the tire service.
Update: 4:50pm
This man JUST brought in his corvette and they immediately started working on it. They still haven’t finished my oil change. The girl in the lobby said she came in for a tire rotation with an appointment, they told her 20 minutes when she walked in and its been an hour.
Final update: Checked out at 5:05pm. The girl in the lobby with me just left.
Four hours, one oil change, 75$. Only then when I was checking out was I notified they were short staffed by some tall kind man. The man helping me made absolutely no apology, explanation, or effort at all. I should have been given at least half off for waiting so long with no communication. I can’t wait for the owner to leave a vague PR response with his number under this review to pretend he cares!!!

Exceptional customer service! I got a flat while passing by Mavis Tires & Brakes in University City, and the attendants were beyond helpful and accommodating. They helped me get my spare tire on, and what I really appreciated was that they didn’t pressure or hound me into making a purchase.
They got me back on the road quickly so I could still make it to work on time. Their customer service alone far exceeded my expectations! It’s not every day you come across people who are willing to simply help when you’re in a bind.
Thank you so much for your kindness and great service! I truly appreciate it and would definitely recommend this location. ❤️
We had a great experience with Jamie at Mavis Tire & Brakes. He inspected our car thoroughly and was incredibly honest with us. We were prepared to have whatever work he recommended done, but instead of trying to sell us services we didn’t need, he told us honestly that the car was in great condition and didn’t need anything at this time. He didn’t even charge us for the inspection.
It’s rare and refreshing to find someone you can truly trust with your car. Jamie could easily have recommended unnecessary work, but he chose honesty and professionalism instead. We really appreciate his integrity and will definitely come back when we actually need service. Highly recommended!

Pros: The employees were super nice and helpful.
Cons: Unfortunately, everything else described below.
Reason for Visit: I needed a new set of tires and an alignment. I made an advanced appointment and had everything scheduled. What should have taken one trip to Mavis ended up requiring five trips.
Trip 1: New tires and alignment. Picked up my car. Found that one of my wheel caps was missing, no valve stem covers were used, and all the tires were overinflated by 6 PSI. This was corrected before I left.
Trip 2: After pulling out of the parking lot, I immediately noticed that alignment was way off. I had to hold the steering wheel at about 2 o’clock just to keep the car driving straight. So I did a U-turn and came right back to have it fixed.
Trip 3: I was told there was an online/mail-in rebate for the tires, which I could not find and was not provided any information. I had to go back anyways for a required lug nut check at the first 25 miles (which I’ve never heard of before but it appears Mavis says is required), so I decided to ask about the rebate when I went back. The manager was not there and I was told only he could help. I left a call back number but never heard anything. I don’t think the mail-in rebate actually existed and never got it.
Trip 4: I thought I was done and was inspecting my paperwork before filing it away when I discovered I was overcharged. There were a lot of line items and I didn’t see it at first. I went back to ask, and it was confirmed I was overcharged. However, they couldn’t issue me an immediate refund as it had to be called in first. It was towards the end of the day so that meant I had to come back another time.
Trip 5: I went back and got my refund.
In summary, this new set of tires and an alignment took me five visits to the store and cost an extra $50 because the online/mail-in rebate doesn’t seem to exist. I honestly don’t have confidence that they did everything right with all the mistakes along the way and hope that the alignment holds true and the tires are ok in the long run. I gave this Mavis review 2 stars because the staff really seemed genuine and caring, but that can only go so far when all the actual work wasn’t done well. I would not recommend using this Mavis due to all these issues.
