**Changing my review from a 1 star** I was contacted shortly after responding by a gentleman representing Intoxalock. He was courteous, understanding, and listened to my story. He offered compensation for the time I had spent dealing with this issue. Although I had already resolved it on my own. He probably would have been more helpful. If you’re having issues communicating with customer service I’d attempt to contact the company via Social Media. You get a much better result. My biggest regret is going with this company. Something that has already been stressful and traumatic has been made 800 times worse by this Intoxalock and their customer service. They are non-responsive, they never give you a solution to your problem, and everyone you speak to has a different answer. I was told to provide information via email. Which I did, and when I called wondering why these harassing phone calls have not stopped I was told I was using the wrong email, which they provided to me. So I sent the information to the one she provided me over the phone and I still am getting those calls. Now I’m locked out of my car and I’m still getting the run around. Do yourself a favor and steer clear of this company.

Frequently Asked Questions About Intoxalock Ignition Interlock

How does an interlock device work?

An ignition interlock device (IID) is a small breathalyzer installed in your vehicle to prevent it from starting if alcohol is detected on your breath. Before driving, you'll blow into the device. If your breath alcohol concentration (BrAC) is below the programmed limit, the car starts. Periodic retests occur during your trip to ensure continued compliance. What is the cost of an ignition interlock device?

The installation of an ignition interlock device, often called a car breathalyzer, typically costs between $70 and $150. This one-time fee is paid at the start of your lease and covers the service center's labor to install the device in your vehicle.
