- SJSew JMay 7, 20265.0This isn't the closest location to me and I've only visited it a handful of times for very specific purposes. Nevertheless, each time I've been met with pristine professionalism. I always encounter a mature staff that takes pride in helping customers. My recent visit was the result of looking for an item this store only had. I called them up and sure enough they had it and the guy said it would be up front waiting for me. When I arrived the item was upfront. In the past I've made online orders at other Advance Autos and when it was claimed to be ready. I would show up and the staff person walked from behind the counter and picked it off the shelf. This particular Advance Auto had the merchandise up front and I only had to say I was on the way. No online purchase was needed. Keep up the good work.

They patiently explained the test results, answered all of my questions, and gave me a complimentary water while I waited for a tow truck. After waiting over 2 hours for a tow, Mike offered to wait after hours so I wasn't alone. Luckily the tow arrived at 8:44pm. Great customer service and knowledgeable. Thank you both!!!

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
