I had a frustrating experience at this AutoZone location that needs attention.
I came in to replace my car battery, which was still under warranty, so it should have been an even exchange. Instead, I was charged for a new battery and told I would receive a refund once I returned the old one even though AutoZone employees typically help with simple services like battery installation, which is what was happening during my visit.
I do want to point out that the technician who helped replace my battery was very kind, helpful, and professional. After he finished, he told me to have a great day, and I had to explain that I still needed to go inside for a refund. He seemed genuinely confused that I had been charged instead of it being processed as an even exchange.
When I went inside, the manager handled the refund. However, the amount shown was about $19 less than what I originally paid. I pointed this out, and she said the tax would be included after I inserted my card. After the transaction, she stated that $247 was refunded.
Once I got back to my car and reviewed everything, I realized I still didn’t receive the full amount I paid ($249). The explanation about tax didn’t add up, and I was shorted.
Overall, there was a lack of consistency and clarity in handling what should have been a simple warranty exchange. Customers shouldn’t have to question charges or double-check refund amounts.
I recommend better training on warranty procedures and more transparency during transactions.
