I bought 4 tires from Dobbs 2 years ago. So, when I got a flat on Labor Day weekend, I wanted to take it back to Dobbs to replace the flat with the identical tire. There appeared to be damage to the side wall. Since I was traveling for work, my girlfriend dropped it off and asked them to replace the tire, try and determine what happened, check the rim, and rotate the tires. They immediately accused her of running into curbs, which given the clearance of my sedan, would have shown damage on the body. Then, they tried to say that the flat was due to a balancing issue, and when challenged, changed their story to an alignment issue. So, they replaced the tire, and when I got back into town to pick it up, I saw the tires had not been rotated. When I went in to ask if they had identified the issue with the tire, they said they couldn’t remember exactly, because there were so many flats over the weekend. After reminding them it was sidewalk damage, they started the same story over again. When I asked about the road hazard/warranty coverage they said they didn’t know where I had bought the tires, or how old they were. When I told them I bought those tires at that location about 2 years ago, and I kept the paperwork in the glove box, so I could go get it to see what it said, they said not to because they could look it up. After looking it up, they gave me only $20 off the new tire. That is not in line with their stated warranty. At this point I asked if the tires had been rotated. They said that they weren’t supposed to. I said that they were since it’s time for my oil change, it’s time for a rotation. He then asked if I needed my oil changed. I told him I change my own oil, and he looked at his paperwork and said that it did say that the tires were to be rotated, but he didn’t know why they were not. So, I left the car there and went to work. I never got a phone call telling me when it was ready to pick up, so I finally called over a day later, and found out it was ready. This weekend, I changed the oil, and I checked all my inspection points. Everything looked ok, I brushed some corrosion off the battery terminal, but when I checked the coolant level, it was below Low. Now, I didn’t ask Dobbs to check any of that, but in my experience any garage worth going to checks on your vehicle for these types of things and offers their services. Now, I started going to Dobbs because of their regional reputation and their proximity to my house. After this recent experience I would not recommend anyone get any work done at this location. There is nothing good to be said about their service over the 3 different days I had dealings with them. The next time I need tires, I’ll be taking my business elsewhere and since I am due for a coolant flush I’ll be taking that over to Olive and Fee Fee Auto Care, which is in the same parking lot as Dobbs.
