Our vehicle was involved in the big hail storm several months ago and the damage was devastating. How our insurance company didn't total it out is beyond me. But we had heard great things about HM Dent Works and decided to give them a try at fixing it, although I was skeptical that it would be fixable (it was just too much damage).
Huge dents near where the windshield met the roof and also right near where the sunroof met the roof were 2 major areas of concern, not to mention the hundreds of dents all along the hood, roof and even sides.
Let me tell you that when we got back the vehicle, there was ZERO damage, I couldn't find even one small ding anywhere on it. It's like it never was in the hail storm. Truly amazing work, these guys are pro's.
Thanks again HM Dent Works!
What is paintless dent repair (PDR) and how does it work for hail damage?
Paintless dent repair is an advanced method for removing minor dents and dings from a vehicle's body without damaging the original paint. This technique is particularly effective for hail damage repair. Our skilled technicians utilize specialized tools to carefully manipulate the metal from behind the damaged area, restoring it to its original shape. This approach preserves the factory finish, maintains the vehicle's value, and offers a cost-effective and environmentally friendly solution. PDR is especially suitable for addressing the numerous small dents typically caused by hailstorms.
Do I have to do a virtual estimate or take my car to the insurance company's recommended repair facility?
As a vehicle owner, you are not required to obtain a virtual estimate or use the repair facility recommended by your insurance company. You have the legal right to choose your preferred repair shop. It's important to note that virtual estimates often fail to capture all damage accurately, and insurance-recommended shops may prioritize the insurer's interests. We advise selecting a repair facility you trust to ensure your vehicle receives the highest quality care and attention.
Do I have to take my car to the repair shop my insurance company recommends?
You are not obligated to use the repair shop suggested by your insurance company. While insurers may have agreements with certain facilities, you retain the right to choose any repair shop. Selecting a specialized hail repair facility like ours ensures your vehicle is handled by experts who focus on preserving your car's original panels, factory paint, and overall value. Our advanced techniques, including paintless dent repair, allow us to address dents without compromising your vehicle's original finish.
I don't want to deal with the hassle-can HM Dent Works help with the insurance process?
At HM Dent Works, we aim to simplify the repair process for you. After you've filed a claim with your insurance provider, we manage all subsequent steps. Hail damage is typically covered under comprehensive insurance, usually involving a deductible of $250, $500, or $1,000, which is generally the only out-of-pocket expense you'll encounter. Once you provide us with your claim number, we handle the estimate, communicate with your insurance company, and schedule the repair. When your fully restored vehicle is ready, you'll only need to present the insurance check and your deductible. With over 25 years of experience in managing hail claims, we ensure a smooth, hassle-free process for our customers.
What is a Direct Repair Facility (DRP), and who does it benefit?
A Direct Repair Facility (DRP) is a repair shop that operates under specific agreements with insurance companies. While these arrangements may appear convenient, they often prioritize cost savings for the insurer rather than optimal repairs for the vehicle owner. At HM Dent Works, our primary commitment is to our customers, not insurance companies. This approach allows us to focus on delivering high-quality repairs without compromising on standards or cutting corners to meet insurer preferences.
My insurance check is short-did they already take out my deductible?
Yes, your insurance provider has already deducted your deductible from the check they issued to you. However, this doesn't mean your deductible has been paid. For instance, if your total repair cost is $1,000 and your deductible is $250, you'll receive a check for $750 from your insurer. You'll then need to pay the $250 deductible to us when you retrieve your repaired vehicle. It's important to note that you're only responsible for paying your deductible amount, not any additional costs.
Why is the insurance estimate so much lower than HM Dent Works' estimate?
Our estimates accurately reflect the true cost of professional repairs, taking into account all necessary work. Insurance companies often provide initial estimates that are lower than the actual repair costs, sometimes in the hope that vehicle owners will accept the check without pursuing repairs. Once your vehicle is in our care, we conduct a comprehensive assessment and file a supplement to document any additional damage. This process ensures you receive fair compensation for all necessary repairs, aligning with the actual costs of professional restoration.
How much does hail damage repair cost, and will it raise my insurance rates?
The cost of hail damage repair varies depending on factors such as the number of dents, their size, and the affected areas of your vehicle. If you have comprehensive coverage, you'll only need to pay your deductible, with your insurance covering the remaining costs. Hail damage claims are typically classified as comprehensive, not collision or at-fault claims. In most cases, this means your insurance rates won't increase. Any rate changes are usually due to widespread storm activity in your area rather than your individual claim. For specifics about your policy, we recommend consulting your insurance provider.
How long will my Paintless Dent Repair (PDR) take?
The duration of paintless dent repair depends on the extent of the damage. For vehicles that can be fully repaired using PDR, we typically complete the work within the same week, often in just a few days. Our goal is to provide efficient, high-quality repairs without unnecessary delays. During peak hail season, repair times may be slightly longer, but we prioritize clear communication throughout the process to keep you informed about the progress of your vehicle's restoration.
How long will my hail repair take at HM Dent Works?
Our repair timeline is determined by the severity of the damage, but our primary goal is to minimize the time you are without your vehicle. We don't schedule your car until we have full insurance approval, ensuring you don't waste rental days or experience unnecessary waiting periods. If your vehicle is 100% suitable for Paintless Dent Repair (PDR), the job typically takes 2-5 days. For vehicles requiring additional paint, parts, or glass work, the repair could take 5-14 days. Our team works efficiently and professionally to return your vehicle to the road as quickly as possible, without compromising on the quality of repairs.
