Poor workmanship and poorer customer experience. Bumper was not aligned and left loose on one side, fisheyes and dirt in the paint, waves in bodywork, tail light not installed correctly, and they clear coated one entire bedside on a single stage truck - now it looks completely different than the rest of the vehicle. They showed indifference to the quality of their work and referred me back to insurance instead of honoring their warranty/guarantee. Now I'll need to spend hours finding someone else to fix it, and most shops around here are very reluctant to take on re-work from somewhere else. I went to Buds to keep money local and because I had heard good things...not happy to have to take my business out of town and to have found such apathy in a local business.

Frequently Asked Questions About Bud's Paint & Body Shop, Inc.
How does paintless dent repair work for hail damage?
Paintless dent repair (PDR) uses specialized tools to carefully reshape metal panels from behind, removing dents without affecting your factory paint. It's faster and more cost-effective than traditional bodywork, making it ideal for widespread hail damage common in Missouri. At Bud's Paint & Body Shop, we preserve your original finish whenever possible.
What's the difference between spot repair and full panel refinishing?
Spot repair addresses small, isolated scratches or chips by blending paint only in the damaged area, while full panel refinishing repaints the entire body panel for uniform color and finish. Full refinishing is better for larger damage or when color matching across a whole section is needed for seamless results.
Can I choose my own body shop for insurance repairs?
Yes, you always have the right to choose where your vehicle is repaired, even if your insurance company suggests a preferred shop. At Bud's Paint & Body Shop, we work directly with your insurer and use factory parts to ensure complete, quality repairs without shortcuts or missing trim pieces.
How long does collision repair typically take?
Repair time depends on the extent of damage, parts availability, and whether hidden structural issues are discovered during inspection. Minor repairs may take a few days, while major collision work can take one to two weeks. Bud's provides clear timelines upfront and keeps you updated throughout the process.
What affects the cost of auto body paint repair?
Cost depends on the size and location of damage, whether you need spot repair or full panel refinishing, paint type, and the complexity of color matching. High-quality clear coat application and advanced color-matching systems also influence pricing. At Bud's, we provide computerized estimates before work begins.
Why is frame repair important after a collision?
Frame damage affects your vehicle's structural integrity, safety, and alignment, which can cause handling issues and uneven tire wear if not corrected. Precision frame repair restores the original factory specifications, ensuring your car drives safely and straight. Bud's uses high-tech equipment to verify accuracy.
What are water soluble paints and why are they used?
Water soluble paints are environmentally friendly automotive coatings that offer better coverage, faster drying times, and superior color matching compared to traditional paints. They're more durable and reduce cleanup time, allowing quicker turnaround. At Bud's Paint & Body Shop in Palmyra, we use them for quality and sustainability.
Does hidden damage get covered during collision repair?
Yes, if hidden damage is discovered once disassembly begins, a supplemental estimate is provided to your insurance company for approval before additional work proceeds. Thorough inspections help identify underlying structural or mechanical issues that aren't visible from the outside. Bud's keeps you informed every step of the way.
How do body shops match paint to my car's original color?
Advanced color-matching systems use your vehicle's paint code and computer analysis to blend custom paint that matches your factory finish seamlessly. Factors like age, sun exposure, and fading are considered for accurate results. Bud's investment in technology ensures your repair looks factory-fresh, not mismatched.
When should I get scratches and chips repaired?
Scratches and chips should be repaired as soon as possible to prevent rust, corrosion, and paint peeling, especially in Midwest climates with moisture and road salt exposure. Even small damage can worsen over time and become more expensive to fix. Bud's offers both spot repairs and full refinishing options.
What's the biggest mistake people make after a car accident?
Many drivers assume they must use their insurance company's preferred shop, not realizing they have the right to choose their own repair facility. Choosing a shop based on quality and reputation, not just convenience or insurer preference, ensures you get factory parts and complete repairs without shortcuts.
Can mechanical damage be fixed during collision repair?
Yes, collision-related mechanical issues such as damaged suspension, steering, or drivetrain components can be inspected and repaired alongside bodywork. Coordinating mechanical and body repairs ensures your vehicle is fully road-ready and safe to drive. At Bud's, we restore complete vehicle performance, not just appearance.
