- AAAmanda Atkins2 days ago5.0I am a just a girl who literally owned a car before she even knew how to pump gas so these types of stores NEVER see me. And to make matters worse, I was having one of thee worst days of my life. I’d left work early and was heading home to cry tbh but I’m so glad I didn’t put off stopping in today. There was only one person in line in front of me but the second Lori thought I might have to wait too long she called Robyn over to assist. I’m not sure if she could tell how frustrated I was but she quickly changed that. She was immediately compassionate and swiftly assisted me with the diagnostic testing I came in for. Then she took me back inside and printed out the things I needed to figure out my next steps for my vehicle. The entire interaction she was so kind and made sure I didn’t feel overwhelmed. It may seem small but the interaction was mood changing for me! I did indeed cry when I got home but they were tears of joy! You never know how much kind words from a brief interaction with a stranger can affect you. And to top it all off, it was bad ass to see women working at an auto parts store. Ladies, if you need help and are a little intimidated by these places like me, go see these ladies!

Robyn was quick to help, stayed positive and smiled the whole time. She gave me the best options and helped me out. She even removed my old battery and put the new one in. I even got a little lesson on how to take a battery in and out. She tested my started and alternator to make sure everything was good. Robyn even let me help put the battery in. My visit to Advance was an amazing stress free visit thanks to her.

Once there, Nathan was just as helpful. He even mentioned an on line discount which he applied . Overall service and value was outstanding! I'm not going anywhere else

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
