  Very smooth experience from start to finish. Great service at counter. Smooth check-in and drop-off. Easy bus terminal service. Thankful to pick my own car and find a nice reliable one with no tobacco or 420 smoke. Best rental experience in a long while.

  I’ve been renting from National for all my work and personal trips for a few years now and have been completely satisfied until I rented from the Kansas City location. I had a car for three nights and when I returned it there where no issues, the employee walked around the car looking for damage, seeing none he said I was good to go and left thinking it was just another normal car return. 2 weeks later I received a letter saying I owed them $1500 for hail damage even though the car didn’t even get rained on while I had it. I was also told the guy who did the walk around asked me about the damage and I said I didn’t know what it was from, which is a lie. There was visible damage to the car when I dropped it off. When they sent me pictures of the damage I couldn’t even see any dents in the car just spots circled on the car. They then told me they use a special tool to find the dents and they are really hard to see. So basically unless you have this tool you can’t see dents in the car?! This all seems like a scam to me. There are a lot of great people working for national but obviously not at the Kansas City branch.

  This location seems to have a smaller variety of cars than the other I visit. Never had any problems, but it seems like the executive aisle isn’t the same as the executive aisle at a lot of other nationals.

  I was unaware of the rule about being a resident in the city you rent from & the response I got from the employee & the manager on duty were EXTREMELY distasteful. There was no empathy or courtesies extended & because of the way they handled the situation will stay forever engraved in my mind. I am I single parent of a toddler that was in an accident caused by an unlicensed driver & because I have been unable to acquire another vehicle I have been renting vehicles so that I am still able to get back & forth to work. I know this is not the company’s problem but when you’rea kind individual & show empathy to other individuals it shows in your body language & actions. They both treated me as if I was just anyone reservation & gave the rule as if it were programmed into their bodies as a trained, matter of fact response. It was not an experience I would brag to anyone about when speaking about this company. I left feeling little & unheard. I was also sure to let everyone I know on all social media platforms I’m on as an influencer how stoic & matter of fact they were. I have shared my experience on IG, FB, Lemon8, BeReal, TikTok & Threads. I know not everyone shares my opinion but it will ABSOLUTELY be seen by all my followers. National will NEVER get another dime from me as long as I live… If I could leave zero stars, I would. 1 at minimum needs to be added to post the comment.

  I want to recognize the outstanding customer service we recently experienced with National Car Rental at MCI, especially from Zane. My boss originally had a reservation with National, but due to last-minute flight changes, we needed to adjust the pickup and drop-off times, however, we weren’t able to do so via the travel app our company uses, so we canceled and rebooked. At that point, Hertz was the only available option, so we rebooked with them and everything appeared to be set... until my boss arrived at MCI late at night and found no one at the Hertz counter and his car unavailable to pick up. He was effectively stranded with no rental and no support. Fortunately, National stepped in and completely turned the situation around. Zane was able to recover the original reservation and get my boss taken care of quickly and professionally, despite the circumstances. More importantly, he did so with an attitude that reflected genuine pride in his work and in National as an organization. My boss stated that 'Zane is a true ambassador for the National brand.' His professionalism, problem-solving ability, and willingness to help transformed a stressful situation into an overwhelmingly positive experience. Exceptional employees like Zane are the reason customers remain loyal. Thank you, Zane, and thank you to National at MCI for going above and beyond when it mattered most.
