  Had a horrific experience renting a car from Budget while visiting Kansas City for a work conference. Budget accepted my company credit card for an online reservation and charged it, but when we arrived at the counter with photo ID, staff refused to release the car without the physical card in hand. They said enrolling in the Budget Business Program would work around this, so we filled out the form and sent over the corporate discount number, only to be told afterward that this wouldn’t solve the problem either. When we asked for a refund, we were put through a long, frustrating cancellation process and hit with fees. We travel often and rent from Budget at other locations regularly, and have never run into this, so this appears to be a local policy at this particular Kansas City location, not a company wide practice.

  I don’t know if this all budget locations are just this one. Guy check my car in for drop off. Usually I get my receipt within 30 minutes but 5 hours later I call no answer. Call customer service and they tell me my car is still out and haven’t been Checked In. I’ll continue to use AVIS for now on

  The initial rental was fine but due to a family emergency I tried to extend my reservation via the email provided, I still have yet to see a response. I then called the hotline. I tried to extend for another 4 days. They decided that was worth way more at $450. I paid $127 for 2 days. Ended up having to make a 5 hour round trip to return the vehicle because they rather profit more off of my father being in the ICU dying. I asked why it was so much more and the lady said because it was an extension and not a new reservation.

  Awful experience renting from budget at KC airport, they had a special to rent a dodge charger for $147 per day verses all others at $179.00 per day. When I arrived to pick up the car I was told there was a requirement that a $1000 deposit was required for possible damages and a copy of my personal car insurance was required. I refused and was told the only other car available was a minivan. Never rent from budget at KC airport they use the bait and switch

  I went to pick up my SUV that I had rented at MCI Kansas City and the manager told me that there were no more SUV's left at the airport. He gave me a smaller class of car and did not lower the rate for the car that he gave me. He charged me the full price. I filed a complaint via a phone call to their 800 number and I have not yet heard from them and my credit card was charged the full amount.
