I rarely leave negative reviews, but our experience at this AutoZone was extremely frustrating.
My husband went in early one morning because one of our headlight had burned out. Instead of checking which bulb our vehicle actually needed, Dave simply grabbed one off the shelf and said, "Let's try this one." It didn't work, so they opened a second bulb, installed it, and that one did work. The problem was that he charged my husband for both bulbs and then told him there was nothing he could do because the first one had been opened and that this a more expensive brand that could not be returned or exchanged.
That made absolutely no sense because Dave chose the wrong bulb without verifying what our vehicle needed first. We were expected to pay for his mistake.
I went back to the store to explain the situation, and Dave initially gave me the same answer. I explained that we should not have to pay for a bulb we never needed because he never checked the correct part before opening it. Dave eventually told me River would help me with the return, but I needed to bring the card that was originally used.
When I returned later that evening with the card, River was very kind and genuinely tried to help. Unfortunately, it took nearly an hour because the store couldn't locate a number they needed to process the return. She made several phone calls before Richard was finally able to resolve the issue, and I eventually received my refund in cash.
I appreciate River's effort to make things right, but the entire situation should have never happened. Had someone taken a minute to verify the correct headlight bulb from the beginning, none of this would have occurred. Instead, we made multiple trips to the store and spent over an hour resolving a problem that wasn't our fault. I hope AutoZone does a better job training employees to verify parts before opening them and charging customers for unnecessary items.

I got a little frustrated and anxious but was not rude when their system didnt register my card for a return. I honestly wasnt even loud, if anything I get squeaky when in anxious. When we finally got it figured out the manager called me out on being frustrated and accused me of "about to tear them up". Poor customer service over their messed up system. A little understanding in a frustrating situation would have been nice.
