- HTHannah T5 days ago5.0Joe at AAP in Red Wing is exceptional. He and a few others at the front helped me in a desperate time last winter. My Kia started acting weird and he knew exactly what it needed - high mileage oil additive. Not only did he help me while I was freaking out (new baby, about to road trip and I was afraid the engine would fail) they gave me a free funnel and Joe helped me put the oil in right there in the parking lot. He was so kind and so above-and-beyond helpful, I nearly cried. On top of all that I went in to grab more this fall and he remembered us! What a sweetheart. Cannot say enough amazing things about Joe and the folks at this location. I nearly purchased a new vehicle last winter in my fearful state. As it stands our ride is going strong and 30k miles and counting… all thanks to these fine folks! If you need anything at all, go see them. Thank you Joe!!!

- LTLaVaun TrelstadSep 26, 20265.0A couple months ago we experienced a electrical problem on a late Thursday afternoon with our 2008 Honda Odyssey on our way to Frontenac State Park. We stopped into the Advance Auto Parts in Red Wing to get he alternator tested. We met the store manager Joe who was extremely friendly and helpful in testing our alternator which had just died. Luckily they had the alternator part to fit our van and Joe and his entire staff worked tirelessly that afternoon to find a shop to put in the alternator. After calling just about every auto shop in town, he was able to secure an appointment for Friday morning with a shop to install the alternator. This team went above and way beyond expectations and the night manager Cody even took us and our luggage to the St. James Hotel while making sure our van was secure in their parking lot until the next morning. I can't recommend this place enough as the entire staff couldn't have been more accommodating to us during this unexpected issue with our van which was fixed the next morning. Thank you to the entire team for your wonderful hospitality and extreme efforts in getting us back on the road.

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle.
