To anyone out there using Intoxalock be sure to cancel your card on file immediately once you’ve completed the requirements. They will very likely continue charging your card after your account is closed. They did it to me and many others. They hang up on you when you call to inquire about charges on your card from them. Best of luck getting anyone on the phone you can understand when you inevitably have an issue with your device. Not only do they not give a shit, they give you inaccurate answers to your questions. They are a shady company involved in illegal activity, they enjoy ripping you off because after all you drove drunk. Not always the case. My dui and many others had absolutely nothing to do with alcohol yet they administer a device that tests exclusively, specifically for alcohol. Makes no sense for people who receive a dui from prescription medication, thc, etc to be tested for alcohol in order to drive. It does nothing to prevent further offenses, but hey, it sure makes a lot of people a lot of money. Their device is the size of a vhs tape and will kill your battery. I went through 3. They conveniently lie about their prehistoric device causing battery drain. What do you think the interlock, camera, and gps tracker are powered by? It should have its own battery to power it but it’s profitable to let them ruin clients car batteries so they can charge fees for it. . If you’re already a customer of theirs, switch companies immediately to literally any other interlock provider, it’s 100% legal to switch companies at any time. Other options do exist. You will be lied to and stolen from as their client so steer clear.

Very hard, next to impossible, to get thru to a representative. Also phone # I have tells me it is no longer available. And I cannot find a phone # anywhere on their website! Tells me my payment is overdue when I have my payment under auto withdrawal and I have enough $ to cover payment!

Frequently Asked Questions About Intoxalock Ignition Interlock

How does an interlock device work?

An ignition interlock device (IID) is a small breathalyzer installed in your vehicle to prevent it from starting if alcohol is detected on your breath. Before driving, you'll blow into the device. If your breath alcohol concentration (BrAC) is below the programmed limit, the car starts. Periodic retests occur during your trip to ensure continued compliance. To read more on Intoxalock, you can read our ignition interlock device guide.

What is the cost of an ignition interlock device?

The installation of an ignition interlock device, often called a car breathalyzer, typically costs between $70 and $150. This one-time fee is paid at the start of your lease and covers the service center's labor to install the device in your vehicle.
