- MRMichael Robinson1 day ago5.0I cannot say enough good about this experience! I desperately needed to get this starter delivered by the evening, and something went wrong with the Doordash driver, communication broke down between Advance and the delivery person (who apparently just flaked out), and about 7:15 PM, I started getting very nervous. I called the store, and the gentleman who took care of me spent 30 minutes on the phone trying to sort out the problem and trying to find a solution. I don’t know exactly what he had to do, but all I know is my delivery not happening was NOT an option for him (or me, but I didn’t need to shout or rant or complain… He took care of business). In the end, he upgraded my starter by about $80 and sent one of his coworkers out in the company truck at 8 o’clock to get this starter to me, and that’s what happened. Max rolled up to my driveway at about 8:20 PM with a smile on his face in a starter in his hand, and I was able to take care of the business I needed to that night. There was never a moment that these guys weren’t trying to make damn sure I got my starter, and this is the only place I will buy parts from for the foreseeable future!

The sales associate was kind enough to go back and check on the price tag for me, and agreed that it was their mistake. When he asked his manager to change the price for me, the manager took everything I grabbed and said they aren't selling any of those to me and kicked me out of the store. I wasn't even giving them a hard time. Don't understand why he had an attitude for their own mistake. Terrible service. Would never come back here again.

Showed up when I was sent the 'order is ready for pickup' email, only to be told they didn't have the item that I had ordered, and they told me it was ready as they were ordering the tool to be shipped. Took 20 minutes to buy oil while waiting for one guy to buy 1 thing, probably won't come here again.

HOW DO BRAKES WORK?

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
