  I had a truly TERRIBLE experience yesterday. The worst I've ever had renting a car. I understand it's the busy season here in Traverse, but what we experienced was unacceptable. 1) The line for to pick up the car was well OVER AN HOUR. 2) Our car was downgraded. We were told that they were out of the intermediate sized car that we had reserved months in advance and they had to downgrade us to a compact. We asked if they had any upgrades available instead ,and they said no. Meanwhile, we overheard the people checking in next to us were upgraded to a midsize SUV. Come on. 3) When we finally got to the car, the "Maintenance Required" light was flashing. We had to go back in and flag someone down to check out the car and get told "it's probably just the oil". If there were other rental options, I would have canceled our reservation and gone to another counter, but they were all unavailable. Never again.

  Terrible and dishonest company. Do NOT believe customer service when you are told their policy is to hold their car for you up to 2 hours after closing if you have provided flight info and flight is delayed. Our flight delay had us at car rental 1 hour after closing and they were gone. Competitor counter said they left 45 min prior which means they were gone 15 min after closing. I was forced to wait until 8 hours later to return to attempt to pick up the car but staff was rude and told us that corporate does not dictate how they operate.

  Left us stranded at the airport. We reserved a car in advance, but upon arriving were told they overbooked and didn't have any cars. They offered no help, told us good luck figuring it out, and closed the counter early to avoid dealing with the other upset customers.

  I will NEVER rent through Alamo again. There is no way to email the company with an issue. Instead, you are at the mercy of their customer service, which is HORRIBLE. They pressured my husband into getting their unnecessary insurance and when I called to get it removed they just kept saying you have to go into a location. That is not an option for my husband, and the customer service rep just kept saying, “it’s policy” like a robot. Now we are paying the same price for their insurance as we did for the rental car!!! And there is NO way to remedy the issue. I would highly recommend going with any other rental car service vs dealing with robots with no customer service experience or care for you. If I could give them negative stars, I would. I travel a lot and they will never get my business again.

  I would have given a five star rating because the representative at the desk when I picked up my vehicle was very helpful as was the representative on drop off. I unfortunately had to call their call center because of flight delays needing me to push my pickup later multiple times (because of continued flight delays) and honestly I feel the company is taking a loss paying them.
