I’ve been going to Uncle Ed’s for years, and generally I’ve had very good experiences. Unfortunately, today was a big miss, and I think being understaffed was probably a big part of the problem.
I pulled in and was the only vehicle there. The employee immediately told me he was there by himself and would get me out as quickly as he could. It was pretty clear he was frustrated and having a rough day, and the entire interaction felt tense.
To his credit, he changed my oil and filter and got me out of there quickly. However, I had to specifically ask him to check my lights and blinkers, and I don’t believe I received several of the other checks and services that normally come with an oil change at Uncle Ed’s.
As I was leaving, I told him I hoped his day got better, and he responded that he “just might leave.” That reinforced my impression that he was simply overwhelmed and frustrated being there by himself.
I’m not writing this because I want to get anyone in trouble. Everyone has a bad day, and I actually felt bad for the guy. I’m mentioning it because staffing a location with one person can put both the employee and the customer in a bad situation. I’ve always had good experiences with Uncle Ed’s, which is why today stood out so much.

Went here for an oil change and found out later, after looking at the sticker they left on my car, that they put in 0W-40 instead of the 5W-40 my car takes. I attached a picture of the sticker because apparently checking what oil goes in the car was too much to ask.
I came back for my next oil change anyway and they wanted to charge me MORE THAN DOUBLE what I paid last time. I turned around and left.
Wrong oil, more than double the price, and somehow I’m the one who has to double-check their work. Pretty ridiculous.
Never going back. They officially convinced me to start doing my own oil changes.
