Purchasing my first camper should have been an exciting experience, but the sales and pickup process at General RV Mt Clemens became unnecessarily stressful and disappointing. From my first visit, a large amount of time was spent discussing optional warranties, GAP, tire protection, roadside assistance, and other add-ons. I repeatedly explained that I prefer to review contracts and written information independently rather than make major financial decisions during long, face-to-face sales conversations. Despite that, I continued to feel pressured to reconsider products I had already declined, including another lengthy discussion on signing and pickup day and additional follow-up after I left. The repeated sales conversations created information overload and made me feel cornered. I understand presenting optional products, but once a customer has reviewed the information and declined, that decision should be respected. What made this especially frustrating was that while so much attention was devoted to selling add-ons, basic delivery items were not completed. I requested only two very minor repairs involving loose wood trim that needed to be secured, and I was told they would be handled. I left the dealership around 12:30 p.m. on pickup day without the camper, even though I had expected to take possession of it that day. Later that afternoon, I was told the paperwork was completed and the camper was ready. When I returned around 7:00 p.m., there was no plate on the trailer and neither repair had been completed. I had to notice the missing plate and contact the dealership myself. I was told the plate issue occurred because I had not properly completed the paperwork. Even if there was a missing signature or submission issue, I do not understand why no one verified the documents, contacted me, or confirmed that the camper was actually ready before I drove back. I returned the following day. The plate had been attached, but the two small repairs were still not completed. At that point, I hooked up the camper and left. I also received no response to my final message. Throughout the transaction, I repeatedly felt as though I had to manage the process myself—following up on corrected paperwork, verifying that optional products were removed, identifying the missing plate, and checking whether promised work had been completed. A customer spending 20k should not have to repeatedly chase down basic delivery details or ask multiple times for repairs requiring little more than a screw or staple. And wouldn't it be thoughtful if they threw in a hose or something as a gift? Not happening. There were positive parts of the experience. The gentleman who installed and explained my hitch system was extremely helpful, patient, and knowledgeable. The camper demonstration (Joe) was also one of the better parts of the process. I am happy with the camper itself, but the overall experience was disorganized, overly focused on optional products, and lacking in follow-through. My advice to future buyers is to review every charge carefully, get all promises in writing, and personally confirm that the paperwork, plate, registration, and repairs are complete before driving in for pickup.

Amazing! This visit changed my prospective on this location 100%. A couple years ago I would have rated this mt. Clemens location as low as I possibly could. They had a horrible reputation. Id hear and experience nothing but negative things. I even walked out on them when trying to buy. But, I decided to give them another shot because they had what I wanted and im glad I did! Tony walked me through the 5th wheel I was interested in. Answered all of my questions and if he was unsure, he found out an answer with a sense of urgency. Solomon took over to do the trade in/sale and he was so understanding and patient with me. Im a single mom with 2 kids and he made the process so easy and comfortable! Then when it was time for pick up, Dale helped hook up the truck. Our hitch was tight and sticking and they managed to get it all hooked up. There was also some other people there that were amazing to work with. The front desk guys always had great attitudes. The demo women was awesome and knowledgeable. Even the parts departments helped us find a couple of add ons. Then after ive made my purchases and made it home, multiple people have reached out to ensure everything went smooth. Its been a great experience and I can honestly say I could start to recommend this location again! Good job! 🙌
