  Was told they don't do conventional oil changes and insisted I could only get partial synthetic or full synthetic. When I asked about it he said conventional oil was only for cars from the 80s. Oil change was slow - was in the bay for over 30 minutes and there was one other car. Will not be back.

  My retired parents recently brought their vehicle to Jiffy Lube for what should have been a straightforward serpentine belt replacement. Unfortunately, their experience was extremely disappointing. To begin with, they were never provided a written estimate before any work or diagnostic labor was performed. After replacing the belt, the technician stated that the belt had broken and concluded there must be another mechanical problem. The initial diagnosis was that the belt tensioner was the cause of the problem. The following day, after "sleeping on it," the technician changed the diagnosis entirely, claiming that something deeper in the engine bay had seized. Wanting a second opinion, my father took the vehicle to a trusted independent mechanic. After inspecting the vehicle, they found that nothing was seized and there were no additional mechanical issues. They simply installed a new serpentine belt and then completed eight separate test drives without a single problem. The vehicle has operated as expected, confirming that the only repair needed was the belt replacement. The difference in cost is just as concerning. My father's trusted mechanic charged $129 for the belt replacement, including labor. Jiffy Lube charged $374.98, including 2.5 hours of diagnostic labor at $149.99 per hour, despite providing two separate diagnoses that were both incorrect. What concerns me most is that my parents are retirees who relied on the expertise of the shop. They trusted the professionals to accurately diagnose the problem, and instead they were charged hundreds of dollars based on two incorrect diagnoses. I would appreciate the opportunity for the owner of this location to speak directly with my father about this experience. I hope this review results in accountability and improvements so that other customers—especially senior citizens—are treated fairly, provided with written estimates, and given accurate diagnoses.
