  A friend of mine was quoted $500 plus tax and shop fees to replace a MAF sensor on his classic 1987 Trans Am with a 5.0L TPI V8. The MAF sensor was used and bought on eBay for $150 by the shop. They said none of the new ones available work right. Not true...Delphi made the electronics originally and they are still available for $162 brand new and delivered from Rock Auto. That leaves $350 for a 10 minute installation with a flat head screwdriver and a 10mm socket! That is highway robbery! They also wanted over $900 plus tax and shop fees for a tuneup...spark plug wires, distributor cap and rotor, and spark plugs and labor which is a 3 hour job...at best. Another friend of mine has a 2015 Subaru Forester. Her steering would intermittently go out. This shop said it was the rack and pinion steering unit. She was looking at over $2,500 out the door...all without looking at it or diagnosing it first. She panicked because that was way more than she could afford. So, we left and I researched for her and found out it could likely be the power steering control module. So, we went to a Subaru dealer and paid over $100 to determine if that was the problem. It turns out it was exactly the problem. The Subaru dealer wanted over $1000 for just the module but I found a brand new genuine Subaru module for $475 delivered from a Subaru dealer online. The Subaru dealer let us use our parts and the install labor was $150. So, for $650 out the door, problem solved and we didn't need a new rack and pinion unit...as was originally told to us. So, what can you do if most shops operate similar to this one? You can buy premium versions of parts from Rock Auto and if you search, you can get 5% off with discount coupons off of their everyday wholesale to the public prices. Then, either install them yourself or find a regional certified and licensed mobile mechanic to do it for you. You will literally save hundreds and hundreds of dollars and it will stretch your hard earned dollars much further. It will work for most basic automotive repairs, troubleshooting, and maintenance. I really want to support local businesses. However, I can't, in good conscience, recommend using a shop that charges ridiculously high prices and takes advantage of good honest hardworking people. Most people just need and want their vehicles to work at just about ANY cost...and shops like this one rely on that. I get labor is expensive and a building and employees costs money. Neither of my friends are rolling in dough and I didn't like they were going to be taken advantage of. The math does NOT math and it just is not right!

  Work done in 2O25. This shop did an amazing job at diagnosing my 2015 Chevy Tahoe pertaining to an electrical issue, the guys got it back up and running for an affordable price after it had been down for months. No one else in Lansing could figure out the issue, but they did after countless cut offs and tow truck fees. I highly recommend them. Thank you!

  These guys are top notch. From scheduling to workmanship and fees, you wont get better at the big box stores. Keep it local and avoid disappointment.

  My AC decided to go out the week before the hottest week in July. I have always taken my truck to the dealership where I purchased it for regular maintenance and care. I tried the simple AC recharge can and got an error message on the meter. The dealership told me the AC compressor was bad and that if that's bad, I should change two other parts or it wouldn't work. All that was going to be $5,000. Comical, given the truck has 160k on it. My neighbor told me about Frankie D's. They took my truck while I was away on vacation and gave an initial estimate of $1,500. No one likes spending money on cars. It sucks, but that was better than $5,000. Upon arrival to pick up the truck, they mentioned that a full recharge wasn't necessary, so that would bring my price down to $1,200. I was pleasantly surprised and my truck is back in great working order! I will continue to go to Frankie D's for future care of my truck. Thank you guys so much!

  I had a good experience here. My vehicles issue was was taken care of with less work than expected. Communication was awesome and friendly. I recommend this shop.
