  Would give no stars if it was an option. Brought my jeep in for a misfire code. What should have resulted in an appt for spark plug replacement turned into a $1,200+ estimate with a $169 diagnostic fee when told initially that was free. Here are the facts; The proposal reflects a clear and concerning pattern of unnecessary and inflated services presented without proper diagnostic justification. Findings of Concern: - No cylinder-specific misfire diagnosis provided at Tuffy when I walked in with one from AutoZone showing a cylinder misfire, not a complete system misfire/shutdown. - No diagnostic trouble code (P030X) identified - No evidence of root cause testing (coil swap, plug isolation, etc.) - Inclusion of unnecessary upsell services - Blanket 'tune-up' approach instead of targeted repair - Excessive labor charges (3.4 hours at $169/hr) Specific Areas of Inflated and Unnecessary Charges: - Fuel System Cleaning ($80.97 + labor): Not required to diagnose or repair a misfire and represents a common upsell item - Plenum Gasket Replacement ($89.75 + labor): No evidence of a vacuum leak or failure provided to justify replacement - Ignition System “Full Replacement” Approach: Recommending replacement of all spark plugs and related components without isolating a failed cylinder is not consistent with standard diagnostic protocol - Labor Charges (3.4 hours totaling $574.60): Excessive for the services proposed and not supported by a verified repair plan - Lack of Diagnostic Justification: No identification of a specific misfiring cylinder (e.g., P030X), nor any documented testing to confirm root cause Statement on Inflation: The scope of this estimate suggests an attempt to significantly inflate repair costs by bundling non-essential services rather than performing a proper diagnostic and targeted repair. This unprofessional and fraudulent attempt to overcharge for unnecessary services has caused our 501(c)(3) undo financial hardship and lost service to the veteran community time. How absolutely sad for a shop to be more interested in a one time price gouge versus creating a long term returning customer.
