Technicians were courteous and great but accidentally broke windshield during installation. I had no problem with this...shit happens 😁. Problem is after the rescheduled date the office called me and said it was NOT going to happen because a technician called in sick. This phone call happened a short time AFTER a technician called around 11am and said he was on his way. Office canceled the installation with the tech. I obviously was lied to from the office because she would of called hours before 11am if someone called in sick. Techs get high rating...office customer service gets a zero. I took my truck out of commission for the day and lost a full day of earnings to get the windshield repaired all three times. The 3rd appt went flawless.

I had insurance work done on my windshield and passenger door window. They seemingly did good work on my windshield but for my passenger door, the inside handle didn’t work anymore to open the door. I took it back. After they fixed it, the guy said “the clip fell off, so I zip tied it” which means they for sure broke it the first time. Then there was a new gouge on the inside of my door on the paint where he used what seems to be a flat head screwdriver to pry the plastic panel off. The plastic panel has a bulge now too where they used the tool to take it off

I am very unhappy with the service I received. While I appreciate having a new windshield, the quality of the work left much to be desired. There were large streaks and residue across the windshield that took several trips through the car wash, as well as hand washing, to finally remove.
I also noticed small rust spots on the top of my vehicle that were not there before the windshield replacement. It appears that adhesive remover may have gotten onto the paint and caused damage.
Overall, I am very disappointed with the workmanship and the additional issues I was left to deal with after the service. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this business.

Tesla owners, this review is specifically for you.
I’ve taken my Model Y to Safelite’s Plainfield location twice within the past three months. Both times, the technicians did excellent work. The windshield looked great, the vehicle was returned in good condition, and both replacements were completed in less than three hours. I trust the technicians here with my car, and they are the reason I’m leaving a five-star review.
That said, Safelite’s front-end staff and corporate scheduling process could use improvement. They tend to present a Tesla windshield replacement as an all-day ordeal and sometimes assume the customer doesn’t understand their own vehicle. In my experience, that simply hasn’t been the case. With a scheduled appointment, the vehicle ready, and the key card and PIN available, both of my visits took under three hours.
The explanation surrounding camera calibration could also be more transparent. After a windshield replacement, the Tesla’s cameras do need to recalibrate while the vehicle is driven. However, the full calibration generally requires more driving than the shop’s short test drive provides. That drive also allows the technician to check their workmanship, including possible wind noise, leaks, alignment issues, or other concerns.
When I questioned the test drive, I was told that Safelite had to drive the vehicle for calibration. That answer was only partially complete. Tesla provides the owner with the ability to clear the camera calibration and complete the driving portion afterward. Safelite may have its own quality-control or liability requirements, but staff should explain those requirements honestly instead of presenting the shop’s test drive as the only possible way the vehicle can recalibrate.
If you do not want anyone driving your Tesla off-site, ask about that before the work begins. They may still require a road test under company policy, but you should at least receive a clear explanation and understand your options.
Overall, my actual repair experience has been very good. The technicians at the Plainfield location have done excellent work twice, and I would trust them to replace my windshield again. Safelite corporate and the front counter could improve their communication, technical training, and scheduling expectations—but the quality of the technicians’ work has earned this location five stars from me.

Made and appointment and waited for technician to show up. Technician called and indicated a smaller time frame. Technician never showed up and never called. The following day they contacted me indicating the technician attempted to call and showed up at my residence. None of this occurred. We have cameras, and I received no calls. The following day Safelite contacted me and attempted to reschedule. After not being able to find any time slots I cancelled and asked for a refund.
