  8/28 Very disappointed. They did some work for me a year ago and was pretty happy. Called yesterday for an oil change and they said appointment or drop in was fine. So I dropped in. Was told they were too busy and asked if it was ok if I made an appointment for Friday. Showed up at noon for my appointment, apparently they didn’t write it down. 1.5-2 hour wait because they already had an appointment. They also said even with an appointment it would be an hour. I’ll go elsewhere, it’s an oil change.

  ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I can’t say enough good things about Tuffy in Farmington Hills, and especially Nick, the shop manager. I was traveling through Michigan for work when the alternator failed on my 2010 Ford F-150 during a weekend art show. I first called Tuffy in Northville. They had a major job already tying up the shop and couldn’t guarantee they could get me taken care of that day, but instead of simply saying, “Sorry, we can’t help,” they referred me to their Farmington Hills location, which is under the same local ownership. That turned out to be a huge advantage. I wasn’t left searching for an unknown repair shop while hundreds of miles from home. Nick understood my situation immediately. I was on the road, working a show, and needed the truck both for transportation and to tow our camper. He and his team managed to get me in on a Saturday and replaced the failed alternator and serpentine belt that same day. The replacement alternator was charging properly, but over the next couple of days I began getting an intermittent battery warning and chime. It turned out that this particular year of Ford uses a charging system that can be finicky about how the alternator communicates with the truck’s computer. The replacement alternator was producing the correct voltage and doing its job electrically, but the truck simply wasn’t completely happy with it. This is where Nick and Tuffy really earned my five stars. Once they determined what was happening, there was no argument, no attempt to tell me “it’s charging, so don’t worry about the light,” and no additional bill because my truck required a more expensive part. Nick ordered a brand-new OEM Motorcraft alternator, even though it cost substantially more, and replaced the other unit at absolutely no additional charge to me. When I arrived the next morning, they had me in and out in about 20 minutes. I then drove 11 hours from the Detroit area to St. Louis without a single battery warning. Problem solved. When you’re hundreds of miles from home with a truck and camper, you’re pretty much at the mercy of the repair shop you choose. Nick understood that my choices had real consequences for the rest of our trip. He could easily have taken advantage of the situation and made a quick buck. Instead, he was helpful, supportive, fair, and determined to make sure the truck was repaired correctly. That speaks volumes about the integrity of Nick and the people who own and operate these Tuffy locations. Things don’t always go perfectly in auto repair. To me, the real measure of a business is what they do when something unexpected happens. Nick and the Farmington Hills Tuffy team stood behind their work, made it right, and never once tried to make their problem my expense. They’ve earned my trust and my highest recommendation. Five stars without hesitation.

  This was my first time @ Tuffy’s. Therefore, I did not know what to expect. However after my initial encounter with the Owner Nick, who btw was very professional. Knowledgeable and understanding. He explained to me my options. After I agreed to the repairs he kept me informed of the updates through Text. In addition their customer service is outstanding by providing a courtesy ride to your home, while your vehicle is being repaired , as well as a pickup once the job is complete. I would highly recommend their company. Thank you

  Very bad customer services and lock of communication specially with guy name nick. I paid extra money for a specific diagnostic and he did not get to me with the results and he keep saying will call you. Never call never get the diagnostic results.

  The manager JD does a great job in running the business at the Halstad location in Farmington Hills . He is very professional, knowledgeable and extremely helpful. This is the first place that I have experienced all the employees to be very positive and helpful.
