- SSShawna SchmidtMar 8, 20261.0I chose Advance Auto Parts in Eaton Rapids today because their price was a little cheaper than O'Reilly Auto Parts. Unfortunately, the experience made me wish I had just gone to O’Reilly’s. I walked in with a toddler who kept trying to run off, and I was clearly struggling while trying to find the correct blinker bulb. I was even saying out loud which one I needed. The employees at the counter shouted the bulb number I should be looking for from across the store because I had grabbed the wrong one—but they never once stopped playing games on their phones at the counter to actually come help. There was no one else in the store. I spent what felt like forever in the aisle trying to manage my toddler and figure out the right bulb on my own. Not once did anyone come over to assist. Customer service matters, especially when someone clearly needs help. Unfortunately, this experience was stressful enough that I won’t be returning.

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
