  First, the wait was looong for the shuttle from DTW to the Alamo rental desk. At least 20 minutes after 9PM. The app had crashed on me all day so I could not expedite check-in earlier. When the car finally came, it was not any of the options in the Class I had paid for and I very specifically hoped to test drive the Genesis. The Acura they provided did not have enough cargo space to fit a wheelchair and 5 bags. Back to requesting any vehicle in the class I ordered. Nothing available. Finally escalated to the Manager who offered us either a crossover or minivan. Ended up with the minivan (and a disgruntled family who had been waiting a while). The good- the people were kind and great (from the shuttle driver to the desk staff to the handlers who radio in the request to the manager. The bad- Alamo should have the correct inventory and not overbook their cars or give those already reserved to others. That's not on the people that work there. Alamo- you can do better. Also, please fix the app or provide another way to access check-in (perhaps through web site and NOT the app). Return was smooth, no issues.

  DTW Alamo - Just rented a Kia K5. Car was brand new with only 1,500 miles. The car was clean, odor free, and it drove very well. I participate in Alimo Insiders and I provide all the information in advance so i can "skip the counter". Total experience was excellent as it always is with this location!!!!! Shuttle bus picked me up quickly from DTW. Dropped me off in their lot and I had 10 cars to choose from in my category. No line to leave the lot (just provided ID and confirmed credit card info). On return, check in was only 30 seconds and I got right onto the waiting bus to take me back to DTW. This is probably the 4th time I have rented from Alamo at DTW and every time the experience has been flawless and the people have been wonderful (very positive attitude). I had a horrible experience with Budget at DTW. I only rent from Alamo and have been very happy each time! BTW, I book through Costco Travel. Thanks again!

  We arrived on a late flight to Detroit. We proceeded to go curbside for the Alamo shuttle. Along with about 30 other customers and their children etc. A shuttle never arrived after over 45 minutes. We ended up having to take an Uber over to their location 2 miles away which cost us $40. We were able to rent, as we were first in line, and got our car. We went outside to get our car and saw the shuttle finally pulling up with all of the angry customers. This is completely unacceptable. Alamo knows from their manifest how many customers are coming in and which hour and failed to appropriately schedule their shuttle.

  Overall, this is the best experience I've had with Alamo. The manager seems to be doing a good job, and everybody there was polite and professional. Matt S. handled my check-in and he was very good. He was professional, knew what he was doing, and even gave me his card. I completed the Accelerated Check-In, and that cut down a lot of the time. Matt S. had me up to the desk and out the door way faster than the people in front of me. It was also nice to be able to select my own vehicle, and it was a nice, new truck. It was very dark when I picked it up, so I didn't see a couple of marks, but they were very, very minor. I pointed them out to the check-in guy at return and there was no problem. I will definitely give Alamo a closer look next time. It was a very good experience.

  We had a frustrating experience from customer service on the phone that sent us back to the airport to swap a truck that they said was able to hitch a trailer after they called and verified but it was offsite and a separate building right off the airport property and didn’t tell us it closed at noon and by the time we got there it was after 12:00 because we returned to the airport address. So the super awesome front desk lady that helped me also helped me by getting a manager approval to approve me a small discount after the ordeal with customer service, but definitely not the fault of the people here at this location I had to face! Then got back into another vehicle to return to TX and try again and the car we chose ended up having a small piece missing out of the tire and we told Tracy we wanted that car because of the long drive we had back and she had Moe her manager approve a free upgrade for us pointing out the tire as well as needing a car with great gas mileage! The amount of appreciation I have for everyone here at this entire location is beyond measure! I can’t thank you all enough!! Thank you for making up for an awful situation!
