  Posting this to hopefully save someone else the headache I went through. A few tips first, then my actual experience. A few things I'd advise anyone : 1. Take pictures of your whole car before the repair, damaged parts and everything else. You never think you'll need them until you do. 2. If something comes up later and the shop pushes back, bring someone with you who's comfortable advocating for you. If you're not great at arguing your point in the moment, it helps to have someone there to support you. 3. Don't leave a review right after you get your car back. Wait a month or two and see if anything shows up. What happened I brought my car to Gerber Collision on Jackson Road in Ann Arbor after an accident left scratches down the whole passenger side, from the front all the way to the rear. I bought the car brand new, and before this accident it had never had any scratches or previous damage. The lady who did the initial inspection was really thorough. She caught all the tiny scratches I hadn't even noticed, which honestly gave me a very good first impression. They ended up replacing some parts and repainting others. The total bill was over $10,000, which felt very expensive, but insurance was covering it so I didn't stress about it too much. When I got the car back, I was really happy with the repair. It looked great, and I thought they had done an excellent job. Then about two months later, I noticed the paint on my rims starting to wear off. I had followed all of their recommendations, including not washing the car for a month after the repair. I brought the car back to show them the issue, expecting it to be covered under the warranty they had given me. Instead, I was told that the scratches I was pointing out weren't the same ones that had been there before the repair. The lady pulled up the pictures she had taken before the repair and compared them to the current condition of the rims. To me, the scratches were clearly in the same locations and looked very similar. Their argument was that the shape and color were slightly different, so they must be different scratches. I tried explaining that if the paint is wearing away, the shape and appearance of a scratch can obviously change over time. I also explained that the color difference could possibly be from the beginning of rust forming. We couldn't agree. At some point I decided that arguing wasn't going anywhere and let it go. I didn't feel like wasting my time arguing about something that, from my perspective, was pretty clear when we looked at the before-and-after pictures. I also don't enjoy having to argue over something that I believe should have been handled more straightforwardly. Bottom line The actual repair work and communication were great which is why I was very happy with the service at first. My issue is really with how they handled the follow-up when I came back with a problem. I hope the shop will stand behind the warranty they offer their customers and take warranty concerns more seriously, especially when their is evidence. I also hope they can be a little more open and fair when looking at the facts rather than dismissing a customer's concern. I'm sharing this mainly so someone else doesn't end up in the same situation I did. I also hope this reaches the company, because I genuinely think there's room for improvement in how they handle warranty concerns like mine.

  Work was completed on time and the estimate was accurate and honest. This is an expensive car to repair, but this is because of the high parts costs and the complicated electronics in it.
