On 07/31I was in dire need of a new battery for my wife's car, and pressed for time. I can't remember the fellas name, but he took care of everything, and changed out the battery for me right away. The service and price was amazing!

Really need to tell people at checkout that the electronics item that I am purchasing cannot be refunded, all I did was open it and noticed it was the wrong one and I can't get my money back?
Even worse, it is up to the manager's discrection on what electronic items can and can't be returned!

Went in to try to Exchange a vbelt and the woman Michelle working the counter, looked visibly impaired And was Unable to speak, I told her I needed to return the belt I currently had and she was blank expression and did not say a word. She then told me to go look for it myself, So I did. I walked behind the counter, and found the belt section. she followed me There did not help nor say one word while I was looking for my belt. I walked back up to the front counter and told her I would come return it another day because she physically could not use the computer because of the impairment . The next day The gentleman Shaun and Tyler were extremely helpful and got me exactly what I needed. Could not say enough good things about my experience with them

So I am from california came to maine for vacation . My car had a check engine light on when i got off the maine turnpike after driving across country so I stopped by your guys biddeford location , First thing that happen is you guys have a giant pothole in the middle of the driveway that i couldnt avoid due to other cars being parked on the sides so i ended up driving into it and damaging my driver side wheel which my lawyers will be contacted you guys to pay for,as well as 2 smaller pothole at the entrance to the driveway that i also hit. Which tells me the people running this store don't keep up with maintenance and upkeep, then I walk into the store first thing i see is a nasty looking floor that looks like it has not been cleaned in 20+ years as well as the ceiling tiles literally falling apart with holes through out the ceiling. Then I am welcomed by a rude guy who claims to be the manager and was given a very disrespectful attitude by him when i complained about the pothole he told me "well maybe you should pay better attention driving" and that it wasnt his fault or his problem that the pothole damaged my car. Then i ask about getting the check engine light checked and he told me he does not feel like going out there so no he couldnt check the light for me . I then asked about some parts i was in need of in which he claimed none were in stock for my vehicle which is a 2025 nissan rogue. Mind you he never looked on the computer and just didnt want to do his job . When i asked for his name he said all i need to know is he was the manager of that store and then rudely began ignoring me. If this is how you treat paying customers no wonder advance auto is slowly going out of business . As i said earlier my lawyers will be contacting you guys for payment for damages done to my vehicle ,have a good day .

Went into advance auto around 11-11:30am on sunday June 21st to buy parts for a 1970 Pontiac Ventura and the guy at the counter not sure of his name but he was heavy set and had short hair who clearly knows nothing about cars told me that you guys didnt have the part in stock and no longer carried it and that he could try to special order it but that I'd have to pay shipping which is a load of bullshit but I let it go then asked him to look up parts for a late 70s early 80s Chevy 350 motor and was told he couldn't just looked it up and needed a vehicle that it came out of to find the parts which also proves he knows nothing about cars and shouldn't be working at a auto parts store ,out of frustration I told him I wish that these auto parts stores would stop hiring people who dont know shit about cars and start hiring people who do ,which he then very rudely pointed to the door and said I was free to leave the store at which point the other guy who had long hair and glasses told me I was banned from going to your guys store he also called autozone and tried to get them to not sell to me too ....these 2 guys dont deserve to work for you guys and are giving this store a bad name. I also have had a bad experience everytime I go into the store when that heavy set guy is working

HOW DO BRAKES WORK?
Expand FAQ item
Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
