I don't usually leave negative reviews, but this experience was extremely disappointing.
I scheduled a 10:00 AM appointment to have two tires mounted and balanced on my Tesla Model Y and have one wheel rotated before installing the new tires. Before coming in, I called and was quoted $20 ๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐๐ถ๐ฟ๐ฒ for mounting and balancing. After I arrived and handed over my keys, I was then told the total would be ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ผ๐๐ป๐ฑ $๐ต๐ต. I assumed the extra cost was for the rotation and, since they already had my vehicle and I had an appointment, I decided to go ahead with it.
About 20 minutes later, an employee came back into the waiting area and asked me if I knew how to remove my aftermarket wheel covers. I explained that they're one-piece covers that simply snap onto the wheel and suggested working around the edge before pulling from the center. While waiting, I watched through the camera and saw the same guy using a ๐ข๐๐ฉ๐๐ก ๐ฅ๐ง๐ฎ ๐๐๐ง to try removing them. That immediately concerned me because they're plastic wheel covers and using a metal pry tool is an easy way to damage them.
A short time later, the employee came back and said he didn't want to break the covers because he could hear them cracking. He mentioned they had only managed to remove one of them and were struggling with the other 2. I gave a few more suggestions, but they continued trying. Eventually, he came back again and told me they had ๐๐ง๐ค๐ ๐๐ฃ ๐ค๐ฃ๐ ๐ค๐ ๐ฉ๐๐ ๐ง๐๐ฉ๐๐๐ฃ๐๐ฃ๐ ๐๐ก๐๐ฅ๐จ on one of the wheel covers and still couldn't remove it.
At that point, I had already been waiting for well over an hour and realized that no actual tire work had even started. I told them I'd just take the car home and remove the covers myself. They returned my keys, put my jack pads back in the vehicle, apologized, and I left around ๐ญ๐ญ:๐ฐ๐ฌ ๐๐ โnearly two hours after arrivingโwith absolutely nothing accomplished except a ๐๐๐ข๐๐๐๐ wheel cover.
To make matters worse, while they were parking my car back outside, I watched the driver dry steering the wheels while the vehicle was completely stopped. That's a personal pet peeve of mine, especially on Teslas, since the brakes remain engaged while stationary, causing the tires to scrub against the pavement and produce a creaking sound.
One last thing that really surprised me was that my car was returned with the low tire pressure warning still on. One of the tires had a slow leak; being one of the reasons I was there to replace it in the first place. I wasn't expecting them to repair the leaking tire but at the very least I would have expected them to top it off with some air before handing the vehicle back.
The most frustrating part? When I got home, I removed the wheel covers Later that evening, I went to a small independent tire shop. They mounted and balanced both tires, completed the rotation exactly as requested, and had me back on the road in ๐๐ป๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐ฏ๐ฌ ๐บ๐ถ๐ป๐๐๐ฒ๐โfor ๐น๐ฒ๐๐ ๐บ๐ผ๐ป๐ฒ๐ than I was quoted here.
I understand that aftermarket accessories aren't something every technician sees every day, but a shop that advertises itself as having experienced professionals and "experts" on their website, at least should know when to stop before damaging a customer's property or should simply ask the customer to remove the covers beforehand.
Had I known they were going to have difficulty removing the wheel covers, I would have simply removed them myself before the appointment. In fact, the technician even told me that while the OEM Tesla wheel covers can already be difficult to remove, these aftermarket ones were even harder and he could hear them starting to crack from the amount of force being used. Had they mentioned this before attempting to pry them off, it would have taken me less than 5 minutes to remove them myself and the entire situation could have been avoided.
The staff were polite and apologized, which is why I'm not leaving one star. However, based on this experience, I can't recommend this shop and won't be returning...
