I went in looking for antifreeze/coolant and told the employee, Christian, that I wasn’t sure what I needed or even what it looked like. My dad had told me to show them the VIN so they could help me find the correct product. Christian didn’t even ask for the VIN or seem interested in helping. He simply told me to go get the Toyota coolant myself. The problem wasn’t having to get it it’s that he showed very little customer service or willingness to help. Not everyone who walks into an auto parts store knows about cars or automotive fluids, and I had already explained that I didn’t know what I was looking for. I expected a little more assistance, especially as someone who was clearly asking for help.

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
