  After more than 25 years of renting vehicles—primarily in support of my work with the Department of Defense—this was one of the most frustrating and disappointing experiences I’ve had with a rental company. At the Enterprise Rent-A-Car location, I arrived about an hour late to pick up a government-reserved vehicle. The store manager, Jackson, immediately told me that my reserved vehicle had been given away. While I understand that being late can create challenges, what followed was both confusing and concerning. Jackson stated—very firmly—that government policy strictly prohibits rental companies from providing upgrades to government employees, and that this restriction was “documented in his system.” His tone was rigid and dismissive, as if there was no room for discussion or customer support. This directly contradicted my decades of experience renting vehicles, including at this same location, where I’ve received upgrades without issue. When I pointed that out, Jackson’s explanation shifted—he then claimed he only had SUVs available but still could not offer one due to these supposed restrictions. The message was inconsistent, and his demeanor suggested he was more focused on defending his position than helping resolve the situation. Because I urgently needed transportation, I had to spend an additional $60 on taxi fare and coordinate a new reservation through my travel office at Baltimore/Washington International Airport. During that call, I confirmed there are no such government restrictions on upgrades, which made the earlier claims even more troubling. I also contacted Enterprise customer service and was told an area manager would follow up—but I never received that call. Two hours later, Jackson called me back saying he had “found” a vehicle. What stood out most was that earlier he had insisted he had no way to contact me—no phone number, no email. When I asked how he suddenly obtained my number, I did not receive a clear or reasonable explanation. That inconsistency only added to my frustration and raised further concerns about transparency. After decades of loyalty to Enterprise, including frequent rentals at both Clarksville and Olney locations, this experience has completely eroded my trust. Being misinformed, dismissed, and ultimately inconvenienced to this extent is unacceptable. I have cancelled my upcoming reservations at this same location and do not plan on reserving any future vehicles with Enterprise.   Been coming to this Enterprise in particular for years now. Most recent was last week for Easter and as usual had great service. If theres ever a problem, they seem to always make it right somehow, whether as an upgrade or money off rental. I would recommend Enterprise to anyone, and are my preferred rental company.

  I tried for 10 days to switch to an SUV at the Clarksville Enterprise, and Samantha repeatedly told me no cars were available and that they don’t switch to SUVs for insurance rentals. Frustrated, I went to the location in person. At first, she said a car was available since we were asking for an SUV. But as soon as we agreed, she suddenly said it required an oil change and couldn’t be given to us. Earlier, during phone calls, she even hung up on me. Knowing she was lying, I had a friend call—she suddenly had 2 Jettas and 1 RAV4 available. I called right away to confront her, and only 10 minutes had passed since we left. She claimed the oil change was already done and a car had been returned—impossible in that short time. Samantha was clearly being dishonest and misleading. A completely disappointing experience—her misleading behavior and poor communication made a routine car switch unnecessarily stressful.

  Wonderful experience renting with Enterprise. Professional and friendly. Smooth operation without any unnecessary delays. The car was almost brand new and absolutely clean. Would definitely rent again….
