I purchased a vehicle from BMW of Catonsville about 45 days ago, and while the pre-purchase experience was excellent, the after-purchase customer service has been extremely disappointing.
During the sales process, the communication was over the top calls, follow-ups, promises about how supportive the dealership would be after the sale, how easy it would be to reach people, and how customers build long-term relationships with the team. I honestly wasn’t expecting anything extraordinary after buying the car, but I was expecting follow-through on the promises.
Unfortunately, that hasn’t been the case.
I texted my salesperson with questions after the purchase and received no response. I eventually had to email to get a reply, and even then, the response felt very short and dismissive, considering I had just purchased a vehicle a couple of weeks prior.
I was also told someone would contact me regarding my tags, but I never received a call. My temporary tags expire in two weeks, and I had to call myself just to find out they were already there. Even then, no one could clearly explain the pickup process or follow back up with me.
I also wanted to purchase additional services separately rather than adding them to my loan. I was directed to Sam, left multiple messages, and never heard back.
Another frustration was the vehicle technology appointment. Melanie was supposed to follow up within a day or two to schedule it. I ended up having to follow up myself. Then, when I needed to reschedule due to a doctor’s appointment, I emailed her, but never received a response, and it’s now been two weeks.
The biggest issue for me is not that mistakes happen; it’s the lack of communication and follow-through after the sale is completed. The energy before the purchase and after the purchase felt completely different.
It’s also very difficult to reach someone by phone unless you’re actively shopping for a vehicle. Ironically, before I purchased, I had people contacting me even after the dealership was closed.
I genuinely intended for this dealership to become my “home dealership,” but based on the after-sale experience, I’ll be taking my business elsewhere moving forward to o Silver Spring.
The vehicle itself is nice, but the customer experience after the sale did not match what was promised. Again, I wasn't looking for anything. It's what they said they would do, and I hwy didn't keep their word.

This place is the best. They have the best experts on BMW. Even the shop that I went to for many years and trust cannot fix and perform some of the services that you might need for your BMW. I want to take a special thanks to their team being also helpful and caring about my car. I definitely would work with Bret if you haven't had a chance to go there yet as he was amazing. I like the video they give you about what your car needs and they even take a video before they touch your car. And they're just really a state-of-the-art facility and definitely somewhere you can take your car to get fixed and is completely reliable and trustworthy. Definitely recommend!
