- MSMike SullivanAug 13, 20265.0I was visiting a relative when my battery died in my 4Runner. I was able to get it jumped but the relative had no tools I could use to change the battery. I called Advance Auto Parts on West Boylston St. In Worcester first thing in the morning and he said "bring it over and I'll put the battery in for you' - no charge. It doesn't stop there. The 4Runner holds both a shorter (35) or longer (24F) battery. The larger battery has more power, handles accessories better and is a better fit. The dead battery was a 35 which I would have replaced if he hadn't explained the differences to me. He didn't just sell me what I was looking for. He went outside to my car, looked at what was installed and offered two choices with the pros and cons of each. I was able to make an informed choice. Knowledgeable, friendly, helpful and priced fairly.

Disorganized store, lazy staff; while I was having a disagreement with the bald manager, someone else walked out cursing him out over his poor service.

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle.
