- CVConstance VallelyOct 27, 20265.0Went to have my battery tested before the winter to make sure it was going to work. The battery is coming up on 4 years old in the Spring of 2027. Desiree was fantastic and very skilled and knowledgeable. She popped the hood opened like a pro. I had spent most of the day yesterday trying to get an auto shops in Canton to do a battery test. They all wanted me to make appt. With wait times from 1-2 hours. I opted this morning to go to Advanced Auto Parts. I had bought my windshield wipers there a couple of years ago and they installed for free. No wait times easy peasy with results. Thank you again Desiree for testing my battery and giving me peace of mind. . Just the other day the hood was not working to open and the mechanic across the street he was able to release from under the car and then took the time to grease the latch. But the substitute mgr. for the day at Meinke Car Care Center told me that I would need a new latch and to have it installed. But Desiree said the mechanic had greased the latch and that’s why I didn’t need a new latch. Working just fine. From now on I will be going to Advanced Auto Parts for all my car needs including windshield blades and batteries fuses. Anything I can fix my self.

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
