Worst service we've ever experienced. I strongly recommend avoiding Valvoline on 507 Boston Tpke in Shrewsbury (and probably Valvoline in general)
We brought our Audi Allroad in for what should have been a routine oil change. Less than 48 hours later, my wife was stranded on the side of the road with the smell of burning oil, and the dashboard displayed a warning that the engine oil level was at the minimum. It turned out the engine was missing more than four quarts of oil after just one day.
We had the vehicle towed back to Valvoline because it was obvious this wasn't a coincidence. After inspecting the car, they claimed that two turbo oil lines were "heavily leaking" and insisted the issue wasn't their fault. However, after making that claim, they cleaned the oil off the engine and proceeded to perform three additional oil changes because they admitted they "kept getting the oil level wrong."
The moment they finished, I took the vehicle to an independent, reputable mechanic less than two miles away for a second opinion. After a thorough inspection, he confirmed that none of the turbo oil lines were leaking. Instead, he found that the oil loss was caused by the oil filter being installed incorrectly during the original oil change. Unfortunately, that diagnosis didn't surprise me.
Because of this mistake, I've lost over $1,000 between mechanic fees, towing, rental car expenses, and hours of missed work. I will be seeking reimbursement for all of these costs, as well as written documentation stating that if my engine develops problems as a result of being driven dangerously low on oil, Valvoline will accept responsibility.
This is an Audi engine with 130,000 miles, and maintaining the correct oil level is absolutely critical to its reliability and longevity. What concerns me just as much as the improper oil change is the complete lack of accountability. Instead of acknowledging their mistake, they attempted to blame unrelated components before the real issue was identified by an independent mechanic.
If you're looking for a reputable mechanic instead, I highly recommend Lincoln Truck & Auto LLC, right down the road. They diagnosed the actual problem correctly without trying to sell me unnecessary parts or repairs. They were straightforward, honest, and charged me fairly. They also perform oil changes using high-quality oil and top-tier filters for around $80, which is well worth it for the peace of mind that the job is done correctly.
If you're considering bringing your vehicle to Valvoline—especially a European vehicle where proper maintenance is critical—I would strongly encourage you to take it somewhere else. A simple oil change should never result in your vehicle losing over four quarts of oil, being stranded on the side of the road, and costing you thousands of dollars in time and money.
I will be updating this review with how Valvoline handles this situation, once a solution has been found
UPDATE: I still have not heard back after trying to reopen my claim. I’ve been calling Valvoline every day, trying to reach someone who actually has the ability to reopen the claim, but I continue to get passed from one person to another. At this point, I’m extremely disappointed with their customer service and feel like I’m simply being passed around in the hope that I’ll eventually stop calling.
I’ll continue to update this review as the situation develops.

Absolutely unacceptable experience. Avoid this Valvoline location.
I brought my vehicle to the Valvoline Instant Oil Change on Boston Turnpike in Shrewsbury for a routine oil change. While entering the service bay, I followed an employee’s directions onto the catwalk. The employee failed to warn me that a piece of equipment was positioned underneath my vehicle, causing my car to strike it and sustain damage to the undercarriage.
Immediately afterward, my vehicle developed a loud roaring noise that was not present before my visit. What should have been a simple oil change turned into a serious repair issue.
The way this situation was handled afterward was just as concerning. I was kept waiting at the store for over an hour, was initially prevented from inspecting the damage myself, and was not allowed to photograph my vehicle until I repeatedly insisted. I was then told that an incident report could not be filed because customer service was closed. After contacting Valvoline myself, I was informed that this was not true and that the report could have been filed at the time.
Since then, I have made around ten attempts to get this resolved. I was repeatedly promised callbacks from management, including the store manager and area manager, but those promises were not kept. Emails through the official claim process went unanswered, and more than a week passed with no meaningful effort from Valvoline to resolve the issue.
Mistakes can happen, but what matters is how a company responds. In this case, the lack of communication, accountability, and professionalism has been extremely disappointing.
I strongly recommend documenting everything if you visit this location. My experience has left me with serious concerns about how customer complaints and vehicle damage claims are handled.
