  Quick oil change. Pleasant customer service. The only issue was that my check engine light came on as I drove away so I had to go back to have them check the code and correct it.

  I just got my oil changed At the Roslindale location, while I always choose Valvoline, this is my first time at this particular store. Excellent customer service from start to finish. Everything was handled quickly and efficiently, and the entire staff was friendly, kind, and genuinely helpful. I worked directly with Drew, who was great throughout the process, and the manager, Kamun, also made sure everything went smoothly. Really positive experience overall and I’d absolutely recommend them. Five stars! Thank you

  I went to Valvoline today for what should have been a routine oil change, and unfortunately, the experience was extremely upsetting and unprofessional. When I pulled into the bay, the assistant manager his name badge said Etienne, opened my driver’s door without my permission and pulled the hood-release latch while, at the exact same time, another employee was standing at the front of my vehicle attempting to open the hood. The two actions happening simultaneously resulted in my hood becoming stuck and unable to open. Instead of taking responsibility or trying to resolve the situation, I was told by the assistant manager that I should leave the establishment and go to a nearby gas station to have them fix the problem. This was extremely frustrating because the issue occurred while their employees were servicing my vehicle, and my hood was functioning normally when I arrived. I then had to stand there and debate with five or more employees about whether my hood was already like this when I arrived. I knew it was not. I even asked to review the surveillance footage with an employee. We watched the footage together, yet I was essentially told that what we were both seeing happen on the screen was not what actually happened. I then asked for the corporate phone number so I could report the situation. No one wanted to provide it to me. I asked for the owner’s information or to speak with someone above the employees who were involved. Eventually, I noticed a manager who was apparently on lunch sitting in a vehicle. Several employees were going back and forth to his vehicle discussing what had happened. Rather than continue arguing with multiple employees, I personally approached the manager and asked him to please come help me because my hood had become stuck and I was still there because I simply wanted the oil change I originally came for. Thankfully, Kamaru, the lead manager, was the one person who actually stepped in and handled the situation professionally. He came to my vehicle, listened to me, and tried to help resolve the issue. I genuinely appreciate the way he treated me because, up until that point, I felt completely dismissed and ganged up on. What made the situation even more uncomfortable was that I am a woman and there were approximately seven or eight male employees present, with no female employees there. I felt extremely uncomfortable having to repeatedly defend myself and explain what happened while employees were laughing and treating the situation as though it were a joke. At one point, a police vehicle arrived. I was later informed that the assistant manager was the person who called the police. I still do not understand why the police were called when I was the customer whose vehicle had an issue occur while employees were attempting to service it. The police ultimately spoke with the manager, and the situation was addressed. I am leaving this review because I do not want another customer—especially someone who may feel intimidated in a situation like this—to experience what I experienced. In my opinion, the assistant manager (Etienne) involved in this situation should seriously reconsider how he interacts with customers. He was combative, dismissive, refused to take accountability, and made an already stressful situation much worse. I also believe Valvoline should take responsibility for investigating what happened to my vehicle and the damage/problem that occurred with my hood latch while their employees were attempting to open my hood. The one positive thing I can say is that Kamoru stepped in and treated me with professionalism and respect when no one else seemed willing to. I appreciate him for that. Valvoline can do better. Customers should be able to come in for a routine oil change without having their vehicle damaged, being told the problem is somehow their fault, or feeling like they have to argue with an entire group of employees just to be heard.
