The associates at the Milford Massachusetts branch, notably Alex, provided exceptional customer service, accommodation, and courtesy. He went above and beyond to provide assistance, and resolved an issue promptly. I could not have been more pleased with my experience.

This has always been one of my favorite branches, but I ran into an issue with one of the vehicles I rented. Everything was going fine until a problem arose: a friend smoked inside the rental car. I didn't notice it at the time and forgot to mention that smoking was prohibited. I don't smoke—I dislike tobacco—but the staff found out and charged me the $250 fine, a charge I accepted. However, two weeks later, they called to tell me I could no longer rent vehicles from that branch because of the incident. I tried to explain that I wasn't the one who smoked and that I had never had any issues during the many rentals I've made over the years; given that this was the first time something like this had happened, it seems unfair to me that—despite having paid the $250—they refuse to listen to me or give me another chance. This branch is very close to my home and has become a favorite of mine thanks to its excellent customer service; I really like Enterprise and rent from them almost every week. They told me I would have to go to a different branch, but that one is too far away, which makes things very difficult for me, and I would really like to keep renting there. Here is my reservation number so you can please reconsider.

This was by far one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had with a rental car company.
This happened at the Enterprise Rent-A-Car Milford location in Massachusetts.
On May 25th, I made an online reservation for an economy car for pickup the next morning at 8:30 AM. I received a confirmation, picked up the car, and during the paperwork process I was offered their “prepaid gas” option. The employee explained it as something that would SAVE me money and that I would basically pay only for the fuel I used, supposedly cheaper than refilling at a gas station myself.
The vehicle I received was a Toyota Hybrid, extremely fuel efficient. I ended up returning the car THE SAME DAY, only a few hours later, after barely using any gas at all — maybe around $15 worth.
When they closed out my bill, I noticed the total jumped from my original reservation price of around $53 to over $110. That’s when I found out they charged me an entire tank of prepaid gas for a hybrid vehicle that I barely drove.
When I questioned the employee, he admitted the explanation he gave me earlier was misleading and agreed to process a refund. He told me the refund would appear within 24 to 48 hours.
It never did.
I returned multiple times asking to speak with the manager. Every single time, I was told the manager was “not there” and that someone would call me back. Nobody ever did.
Then things got even worse.
Yesterday, I made another reservation online because I needed a rental car again for today. Reservation confirmed. Then at 7:36 AM this morning, I received a call from the assistant manager saying they had “no cars available” for me.
What makes this unbelievable is that I had physically been at that location the day before and their parking lot was FULL of cars.
I even offered to pay more for an upgrade. They still refused.
At that point, it honestly started feeling personal because I had been insisting on speaking with management regarding the refund issue.
So I decided to test something.
I made another reservation 20 minutes later using my wife’s name but MY phone number. Almost immediately, Enterprise called and offered a FREE upgrade to a minivan because they supposedly didn’t have economy cars available.
Suddenly they had cars.
When I went back and confronted them about this contradiction, they became defensive, multiple employees surrounded me, and they called the police on me instead of addressing the obvious discrimination and unprofessional behavior.
Ironically, even the Milford police officer who responded understood exactly why I was upset and acknowledged how suspicious the situation looked considering they had no cars for me, but suddenly had cars and free upgrades available under another name.
This is not about the money anymore. It’s about honesty, professionalism, and respect for customers.
I have rented many cars in my life and have NEVER experienced anything this dishonest, misleading, or unprofessional.
I truly hope Enterprise corporate sees this review and seriously reevaluates the management and customer service at the Milford, Massachusetts location because no customer deserves to be treated this way.
