  The dude with the glasses completely saved my life. My van had a niche issue that no one else in town could fix, and other places like Firestone charge a $250 diagnostic fee just to look at your car without fixing it. My vehicle was making a horrible metal-on-metal clanking sound in the back end. This mechanic jumped in, drove it with the clanking for 10 minutes, and immediately figured out that the emergency brake had completely disintegrated inside my back wheel assembly. He kept it totally real with me, showed me the huge loose metal parts causing the problem, and said he could fix it today for $130 with no bull. I trusted him, and he took the wheel off, undid the brake assembly, and cleaned all the broken junk out for $135 total. For an old van worth $3,000, that is exactly what you need. I am not trying to spend $800 on a quick fix. They just told me what was wrong and fixed it for cheap with zero upcharges. Normally I would give Monroe a 3 or 4-star rating, but I have to give these specific employees a 5-star review to show them some love. I don't come to Monroe for major engine or transmission rebuilds because that is not the kind of shop this is. But for oil, fluids, suspension, or swapping out parts, they do great work for cheap. The young men inside the shop are honest, hard-working, and provide excellent customer service. The only downside is that the corporate business side of things is completely screwing over the shop. Monroe has a horrible customer service delivery system. The phone lines all lead to an overseas call center with dispatchers who don't know anything about Pittsfield or cars, and they just try to upsell you. They told me online that a transmission fluid change was $70, but the shop computer system said it was $90 plus a crazy amount per quart, bringing it up to $140. The mechanic in the shop ended up giving me a fair rate when I asked, but the online system and the shop system have completely different numbers. The appointment system is also broken. If you book an appointment, it still takes forever to be seen, so you are better off just showing up on a slow day and praying. One time they even scheduled me for a transmission service at this location, only for the mechanic to tell me they don't do transmissions at this shop and that I had to drive to their other store. To make matters worse, you can't even call the actual store to ask a mechanic a quick question about an inspection. You literally have to drive down there just to ask a question. The mechanics inside the shop are top-tier and I trust them to do good work, but corporate seriously needs to get their management, phone lines, and online systems in order.

  Outstanding customer service! I bought my tires at Monro Auto Service and Tire Centers, and recently had to bring one in with a pinhole leak. They repaired the tire, rotated them, and balanced them all completely free of charge—honoring the promise made when I bought the tires. I didn't even realize a puncture repair like that would be covered! Pleasant surprise and fantastic service. Highly recommend!
