- KPKevin PayneJul 25, 20261.0Show up to buy an overpriced battery and have it installed and suddenly my car doesn't start at all. Do an alternator test that comes back fine so I figure maybe it's my starter and before I can say anything the employee tells me to get my car towed out of here asap. So I do and the second it's in the shop I get called back in and told the battery I just bought is three years old, won't hold a charge and upon putting in an actual new battery the car starts right up. Get back here less than a week later to try and return the battery with a paper & digital receipt dude rolls his eyes and tells me no returns. Shops now telling me that I should move forward with having the tow and shop bill forward to advance auto 🤷 will never do business here again.

Signs of a bad car battery can range from the need for frequent jump starts, slow to start, cranks or clicks but won't start, dash lights work but the vehicle won't start, etc.

HOW DO BRAKES WORK?

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
