Still in blister pack with receipt, returned five minutes after purchasing to exchange for the correct part, wouldn't take the original wrong part back. Never going here again. I'll go to O'Reilly's. Today was an absolutely freezing cold day, single digits, with a huge snow storm on the way, and our car's battery decided to go kaput. It was not an easy swap because there was some corrosion etc that made everything much more difficult than usual. But Kristi kept at it and made it happen. Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
