THIS IS NOT ABOUT KEN TOWRY, PRESTON HIGHWAY - THIS IS FOR CHAD WILLIAMS — THE BS GUY … AS FAR AS HE IS THERE, I WILL KEEP MY BUSINESS OUT OF THAT LOCATION...
If you are looking for honest auto work and basic human respect, DO NOT GO to the Ken Towery on Preston Highway. I brought my vehicle in for one very simple thing: an oil change. Instead of just doing the job I asked for, they immediately started poking around doing other things to my vehicle that I never authorized.
Then came the scam. They tried to push a bunch of expensive, "highly recommended" services on me. The kicker? The parts they claimed needed replacing were JUST installed brand new at the dealership. They were trying to upsell me on brand-new parts just to make a quick buck.
When I refused their bogus recommendations, the manager absolutely lost it. He got incredibly mad, became incredibly rude, and had the nerve to condescendingly tell me that I "don't know how my own vehicle works." When I stood my ground, he actually threatened me and said they wouldn't service my vehicle anymore. Don't worry—I wouldn't trust this location to put air in my tires at this point!
It is absolutely useless bringing your car here. They try to scam you with things you didn't ask for, and when you say no, they throw a temper tantrum. Save your money, save your time, and avoid this Preston Highway location. This place and their customer service have completely gone down the drain.

I got a flat on I65 on a Thursday around 5pm, changed to a donut spare at a gas station, and found that I was close to this location. I had three animals in the car, it was toasty outside, and I arrived at Ken Towery's Tire & Auto Care about two minutes shy of 6:30 p.m., more than half an hour before closing. I had the tire off the car already, it was in my back seat, and I was willing to mount it myself, I just needed the tire replaced. There were precisely two vehicles in the parking lot, not close to the public front entrance, and all garage bays were empty as far as I could tell.
I walked into the front entrance, and the person working casually walked, slow as they reasonably could, from the back of the garage to the front entrance, making eye contact a couple of times as he was walking and I was waiting. I explained my situation, noting specifically that I just needed a new tire put on the wheel. They had the tire size on hand but he "wasn't sure" if the tech could change the tire today but would go check. He, again, walked from the front entrance to the absolute opposite corner of the garage, as slow as he reasonably could, was out of sight for a few minutes, and casually slow strolled back up front and said "they've already emptied the air tanks to the compressor." He explained that he would be happy to schedule something for 'as early as Saturday,' if I remember correctly, for replacing the tire. I again explained that I had animals in the car, that it was running, that the tire was in the back seat already off the vehicle and that I was more than happy to mount it myself after they replaced the tire. He blandly apologized and reiterated that he could schedule a time for it, but the absolute earliest would be the next day. This was not exactly acceptable as I was in the middle of a two hour drive to begin with.
I sincerely doubt that they would drain the tanks on a daily basis if it took anything more than ten minutes to fill enough to use, I know for a fact that it takes less than ten minutes to get a tire off a wheel, put a new tire on a wheel, and balance it (which is all I was asking for and explicitly explained that to the person at the counter); which means they could have done this in roughly 20 minutes even if they had emptied the compressor tanks, well before closing time with a normal and non-rushing amount of effort, they just did not want to. I also think that any manager would be appalled that their employees would make the entire business "done" thirty minutes earlier than expected, when draining the tanks (if they even do that, which I personally doubt in general but do not have explicit experience with) is literally a 2 minute switch flip unless they have faulty equipment (which I do have experience with) - flip that switch at 6:58 not 6:30 if you close at 7.
They didn't want the business for one tire, for one car, and could care less what the potential customer was dealing with.
There was absolutely both zero compassion for a customer's situation and zero care about doing their job in the first place.
I ended up finding another solution (The Tire Station over on Poplar Level in this case; great customer service there) that was both willing and able to replace my tire, they even assisted in mounting it and putting my spare away - exactly what I would expect out of a tire store.
I will never visit another Ken Towery's anywhere thanks to the person's attitude and the apparent business practices.
