- RMRonald McPhersonAug 24, 20261.0My wife was broke down today she just got a jump start and stopped by the 31W bypass store to get some needed help with her battery. She had someone a (manager) to assist her. He tested her battery and said it tested good???? He did note that the battery was old though. She left and went back to her work and had to get a jump start again at the end of her work day to make it home to Russellville from Bowling Green. She fortunately made it home safely and I re-took it to the Russellville Advance Auto Store where I always get good service. The young man Antonio connected his test equipment and entered all data for my 2008 Honda Accord 2.4L automatic. He immediately determined that the battery was defective had only 10.5v output. We purchased a Die Hard Gold 3 year warranty battery and he installed it. Once installed he tested new battery and our alternator. Everything tested good. Car is cranking every time now. I’m disappointed in the Bowling Green Store especially that it was a manger assisting my wife. It was fortunate that the car got jumped started again and made it all the way to Russellville without her being stranded on the roadside. Definitely won’t do business with the 31W Advance Auto Store in the future. This store is a joke!!!! Obviously based on past reviews it’s a wonder it’s still in business and probably won’t be in the future.

HOW DO BRAKES WORK?

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
