  Friendly staff but clearly like to rip off and take advantage of young women😂 asked for a basic oil change and was charged $130. Told me they don’t offer conventional oil, which I highly doubt. Probably will not be back

  I came in for one thing: a basic oil change with no upgrades. I was asked what kind of oil I wanted, and I clearly said I wanted the basic option. The technicians (Jesus and a tall ginger man) presented me with one option and, when I asked if there were any others, I was told no. I asked for the price and was told $131. I said that seemed extremely expensive for a basic oil change. Suddenly, there was another option- but apparently it could only be purchased as part of a package. When I asked what exactly was included in that package, I could not get a straightforward answer. I asked them to give me the specific price for both options. The two employees stood at the computer fiddling around with the pricing, and the second option somehow came out to $141. I then asked a very simple question: Can I just get the oil change without the package? The answer was no. When I questioned why, instead of clearly explaining the difference between the services or why I couldn't purchase the oil change I was asking for, they started throwing technical jargon at me that did absolutely nothing to answer my question. It felt less like they were trying to explain the services and more like they were trying to confuse me into accepting a price I wasn't comfortable with. And as a young woman who openly told them I wanted a basic oil change, that interaction was especially uncomfortable. I am not an automotive expert. I don't expect to know every technical term or understand every component of a vehicle. That does not mean I should have to be an expert just to make sure I'm not overpaying for an oil change. If a customer asks what they're paying for, the answer should be clear, simple, and transparent- not a barrage of jargon that leaves them even more confused. I ultimately left without getting anything done. I went to Valvoline down the street and got my oil changed for $86. They communicated clearly, told me what I was getting, told me what it cost, and didn't make me feel like I needed a mechanical engineering degree to understand the transaction. I completely understand recommending air filters, AC services, fluid changes, or other maintenance. That isn't the problem. The problem is the lack of straightforward communication and the way this interaction made me feel as a young woman trying to purchase a very basic service. If your business relies on customers being too intimidated, confused, or inexperienced to question what they're being charged for, that's a serious problem. I will no longer go to this establishment, and if you value integrity, then I don't think you should either. I shouldn't have to wonder whether I'm being given a straightforward price or whether I'm being talked in circles because I don't know enough about cars to challenge the explanation. Jiffy Lube, do better. Customers deserve transparency- and young female customers deserve the exact same level of honesty and respect as everyone else. Girls, save yourselves the disrespect and just head to Valvoline, instead.
