- JWJ H WilsonAug 20, 20263.0Poor Customer Service I have been a longtime resident of the area and have supported this QT location since it first opened. Unfortunately, over the past few years, I have noticed a significant decline in the level of customer service that I once associated with this location. Two issues in particular have stood out. The first is the recurring problem with fuel-pump receipts not printing, requiring customers to come inside simply to obtain a receipt. The second occurred during my visit yesterday morning at approximately 7:30 a.m. At the time, the store did not appear unusually busy. There were three team members behind the counter, with only one actively assisting customers at the registers. Historically, one of the things I have appreciated about QT is how efficient and engaging its employees are—often greeting customers immediately and assisting multiple people at once. Unfortunately, that was not my experience yesterday. The young team member working the register appeared disengaged and made little effort to acknowledge me as I waited to pay for my items. I understand that she was young and may be relatively new. However, from previous conversations with QT management, I also understand that QT has an excellent training program and traditionally places considerable emphasis on customer service. As a business owner myself, I understand how difficult hiring and retaining good employees can be. Training can teach procedures, systems, and expectations, but it is much more difficult to teach someone to genuinely care about the customer standing in front of them. That is why hiring the right people—and identifying poor fits early—is so important, particularly in a customer-facing business. I would encourage QT management to continue emphasizing not only speed and operational efficiency, but also attitude, engagement, and genuine customer care when evaluating new team members. A single employee's interaction can shape a customer's perception of an entire business. I don't believe this experience warrants a one-star rating, as some reviewers have given this location. QT has earned more consideration than that from me over the years. However, based upon this particular interaction and the decline in service I have observed, I would characterize my recent experience as average at best. I hope management takes feedback like this constructively because I would much rather see this location return to the level of customer service that made me a loyal customer in the first place.
