We had a great experience with our car purchase today. Joe, Stella, and Rios were all helpful, professional, and easy to work with from start to finish. They made the process smooth, answered our questions, and helped us feel comfortable with the purchase. Buying a car can be stressful, but they made it much easier. We appreciate their time and help and would definitely recommend working with them.

I wanted to commend Currie Ford for their excellent customer service and work. My dad had an issue with his auto and the initial fix did not resolve the issue. However, when I contacted the dealership they immediately had my dad bring the truck back and the issue was resolved. I was so impressed with the way things were handled, I have decided to move my car services over to Currie Motors.

Our truck broke down at the grocery store in the evening. Ford picked up my truck the very next morning and diagnosed it quickly. Casidhe Kennedy was fantastic! She let us know what was going on, got us a rental right away, and kept us informed the whole way through. They checked everything off of the list we asked them to do! It was by far the best best customer service we've ever had! Usually you always dread the phone call when your vehicle breaks down but these guys were great all the way around! The mechanic did an amazing job rebuilding our transmission!!

I’m 40 years old and I’ve recently purchased my 5th car from a dealership. In my personal experiences buying a car, it can at times be very intimidating and frustrating. For the first time in my car buying days Currie Ford eliminated all of my previous concerns when it’s came to buying a car. The team of Micah, Tim & Rocco were incredible from start to finish. Whether you’re looking to buy pre owned or new I highly recommend Currie Ford of Valpo for a confident & comfortable experience.

Fresh popcorn... Find a dealership you can trust somewhere outside Porter County. After the salesperson puts you through the rounds and you get to the finance person, double check the actual contractual documents you sign. Mine were different. The terms went back up about 7,000, which was back to the sticker price. It was as if I never spoke with the guy in sales for 4 hours. For this, one star. With everything before getting to finance at any dealership that practices gamesmanship, generally speaking: Car salesmen use markers on paper to make numbers appear bigger and more impactful, aiming to create an emotional, immediate, and persuasive, often confusing, negotiation, such as in the "Four Square" tactic. This method, often called the "pencil," acts as a "hard commitment" tool, forcing you to focus on monthly payments rather than total price. Key Reasons for the Marker-on-Paper Technique: Emotional & Visual Impact: Large marker lettering creates a sense of urgency and focuses your attention, making it harder to ignore the offer. The "Four Square" Method: Salesmen often use a pre-printed sheet with four boxes to negotiate price, trade-in value, down payment, and monthly payments simultaneously. Creating False Commitment: By asking you to sign or initial the handwritten "First Pencil," they make you feel as though you have already agreed to the deal. Reduced Visibility: It keeps specific, non-advertised pricing confidential from other customers in the showroom. Forcing "The Desk" Conversation: The, often, "first pencil" is just a starting point to get you to agree to a payment amount, prompting further, and usually more, negotiations. How to Counter This: Focus on the Total Price: Never allow the negotiation to only be about the monthly payment. Bring Your Own Financing: Secure a loan from a bank or credit union before going to the dealership. Ask who "the bank" is, as it can and often is going to be Ford Credit or Toyota Credit, etc. Ask if the dealership will take a reserve on the APR. Almost certainly, "the bank" interest rate will be X and the APR offered to a buyer will be X+Y, with Y being the reserve. A reserve is passive income for the dealership branch. Know Your Numbers: Research the invoice cost and market value beforehand to avoid overpaying. Walk Away! And with a little pride! If the salesperson uses high-pressure tactics or is not meeting your terms or if numbers shift significantly after moving from the salesperson to the finance person, feel free to leave the dealer. Hey, download the Carvana app while your at it. They have great sales on F-150s, from XLTs to King Ranchers with the heads up display projecting your nav on the driverside windowshield. It's super easy to trade in your used vehicle and have a brand new shining joyride parked in your driveway - sometimes overninght! The new way to buy a car is already well underway. Nothing new here.
