They happily scanned the code and sold me parts to go along with code but now I'm stuck with half the job done. The guy behind the counter told me it's against policy. What a stupid policy... guess I won't be buying MORE stuff because now I'm not 100% sure if I've solved the problem or not.....

He gave us a refund on the spot and seemed very genuine. The world does need more people like this. We met him yesterday the 7th around 11am. Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
