AVOID THIS PLACE!!! Been coming here for years, live right up the road. Spend a good amount of money. Never had any issues, always enjoyed talking with some of the ladies that work there. Until recently. So they've got the maintenance guy running front register, not the first time, either. For a place who says they're not hiring, strange to see the maintenance guy alone, running the front register on a busy morning. Now mind you, about a week 1/2 ago, I was having a rough morning, my 4 yr old woke up sick and I had to clean up and get ready for work. So I was running late, and frustrated. Go in, grab a coffee and get in line. One person in front of me, they pay, and stand and chat. Now there's like 6 of us in line. I start inching forward, trying to get the guys attention. Keeps talking. Finally get to the counter and I'm already frustrated. One coffee, a bag of oreos, and a pack of cigarettes, all I got. The guy moved slower than a corpse. I tried to be patient as he spent 5 minutes scanning 2 items, then I asked for cigarettes. Tried to guide him simply, 'down one, over two' but I swear it was like talking to a toddler. So, yeah, I was grumpy. But I didn't say anything, I glared, I huffed, but I paid and as I was leaving he said something along the lines of me being nicer, but I was zooming for the door. Been in there twice since and had no issues, he wasn't there. THEN, I stopped in today, after work. I saw him behind the counter, and one of the ladies who waits on me quite often walking away. So I smiled and went to the counter. Purposely was friendlier as I knew I was grumpy with him before. I see the cigarettes I need already sticking out, looked like they were stocking. I pointed at them and said, 'I need 2 packs of xxy.' He went for the wrong ones, I said, 'No buddy, the selects, they're the ones sticking out. I SWEAR he did it on purpose, still had to point and repeat myself like 6 times. Then he grabbed the lites, 'No the red and blue ones, please. Red. To your left. No, 100s.' FINALLY gets them, turns, and as I smile at him he says, 'You know you have a bad attitude every time you come in here.' My jaw dropped. I said, 'I'm just trying to get cigarettes, man.'
'No, you gotta bad attitude.'
NOW I've got a freaking attitude!
I said, 'You don't get to speak to me that way, I'm the customer!'
He continued running his mouth, but I turned to the other employee who was standing in the aisle nearby and said,
'Do you hear this? How he speaks to customers?'
She came around the counter and he's still talking smack. I said, 'This is bull💩 and I don't want him waiting on me.' She waved me over. I told him he was a piece of crap. Then the other employee says I can't speak to her employees that way. I said, 'I sure can when they talk that way to me first! I work in customer service, if I ever spoke to a customer the way he did me, I'd be fired on the spot!'
She says, 'I get you're having a bad day, but...' I cut her off because at this point I was about one word away from an assault charge. I said, 'My day was just fine until I came in here, and I won't be back as long as he works here. YOU should stick up for your customers, an HE should be FIRED.' Took my stuff and left. I was wrongly treated, and it all happened in front of a bunch of people. So I was embarrassed, to boot! THAT GUY SHOULD BE FIRED. HE WORKS MAINTENANCE AND HAD NO NAMETAG BUT I WILL TELL EVERYONE I KNOW TO STOP GOING TO THAT LOCATION IF SOMETHING ISN'T DONE. I WILL BE CONTACTING THE STORE MANAGER AND CORPORATE, AS WELL. I have worked customer service for over 20 years, and no matter how badly I have ever wanted to speak my mind to a customer (many of them very deserving of it), you just don't. He doesn't need to be in customer service and, frankly, he has no business running a register. Where. Is. Management???
