The technician looked over my car for about 30 seconds and then told me I would need new front and rear brake pads, as well as two new front tires due to worn tread, in order to pass the inspection. He immediately offered to complete the brake work for $450 for the front and around $450 for the rear, plus additional costs for the tires. This assessment raised concerns for me given how quickly the inspection was done. Additionally, my vehicle inspection form does not even require brake pads to be checked, which I would expect the professional performing inspections regularly to know, especially because they provide and fill out the form. To be safe, I took my car to another automotive shop today. They conducted a thorough inspection and confirmed that my brake pads were in good condition. They also measured the tread on all four tires and found that they had sufficient tread and did not need to be replaced. My vehicle passed the inspection without any issues. Unfortunately, the experience at Jiffy Lube felt scammy. After getting a proper second opinion, the assessment from Jiffy Lube was inaccurate and it’s hard not to question the intent of the initial assessment. Additional Review 5/4/2026- I previously left a review (above) for the Jiffy Lube in Sycamore and was encouraged when I received a response from Jiffy Lube stating that their customer service team would like to speak with me. They asked me to send an email with my contact information and the original review link, which I did. Unfortunately, I never received any response from the customer service team, which was very disappointing given the initial outreach.
