    Very deceptive hours and practices. Arrived at 8:50pm and store doors were already closed and open sign powered off. Two employees still inside, including Manager. Had to knock various times until someone came to door, to be told they would not assist me as they were already closed despite their hours showing 7:30AM-9PM weekdays. When asked again why they are not honoring their hours, the rep said their systems are down. Manager that would not come to door, was working on the machines still, therefore confirming system not down, just decided to close early. I asked employee at door their store location to report false information, they checked with manager, and provided store number #7413. Confirmed twice #7413 and employee said yes. Store #7413 is a non Illinois, non Skokie location in Egg Harbor Township, NJ. This location should not be trusted. They will make up their own rules, make up their own information, and lie to you! Drove 30 mins to this location as was the only one to have my product in stock. Waste of time and gas. If this happens to anyone else, it appears correct store number is #8321 Avoid at all costs!

    I came to this location because I'd previously had very positive experiences, but my most recent customer service experience ensured that I'll never go back. I'll preface this by saying I'm not a car expert. Quite the opposite. So when I visit an auto parts store, I am in the habit of asking for staff assistance. I value their expertise. On this occasion, I went in for wiper blades, used the QR code to check my options, and then asked the staff member at the register, Mark K., for his input on the brands. Our interaction began neutrally, with him explaining the different calibers of wiper blades and the warranties available. I ended up selecting a mid-grade option, purchased them, and asked if someone was available to assist with installation; there was a sign stating that installation was available with purchase. This is when the interaction began to shift. The staff member was visibly annoyed, said, "Fine" in an unfriendly voice, and went to get his coat. Out at my car, it was clear that the wiper blades could not be attached to my wipers as is. The staff member seemed to be confused by this. I said if they were the wrong blades, I'd like to return them and purchase the correct ones. At this point, the staff member became openly hostile, saying that "It wasn't his fault we bought the wrong wiper blades," "It wasn't his fault we didn't listen to him and went for the cheap ones," and "The customer isn't always right." His hostility was very surprising, because throughout our interactions, I had been polite, patient, and appreciative. I asked to speak with his manager, and he said he was the manager. At that point I said, "I will be buying my wiper blades elsewhere," and he said, "Go ahead, there are lots of other stores out there." I went to an O'Reilly location, where the staff member immediately identified the correct set of wiper blades for me and explained that some wipers require an adapter, which he also identified. Needless to say, I know where I will be going the next time I need assistance with an auto parts purchase, and it is not Advance Auto Parts Store #8321.

    I had a very disappointing experience at Advance Auto Parts, 5226 Touhy Ave, Skokie, IL 60077. The night before, my car needed a jump start, so I called this location to ask if they had a battery in stock and if they could replace it. I was told yes. Since it was late, I waited until the next day. I called again to confirm, and again they said they had the battery, but the technician who could replace it would arrive at 4:00 PM. I waited, and at 4:00 PM I called to ask if the technician had arrived. I was told yes, so I drove over right away. When I got there, the technician asked for details, then literally opened YouTube to watch how to replace the battery. After that, he told me he could not replace the battery because of the weather, but then said he could do it if I gave a good tip. This felt extremely unprofessional and uncomfortable. I was confused and frustrated — either the service can be done or it can’t. Asking for a tip to do a basic service is not acceptable. Very poor communication and unprofessional behavior. I would not recommend this location.
