This was one of the worst customer service experiences I’ve ever had. I came into the store around 8:00 p.m. to have my battery charged. From the very beginning, the employee gave me a hard time about charging it. He kept insisting the battery needed an hour and a half to fully charge and repeatedly tried to get me to leave it until the next day. I told him several times that I needed my battery back that same night because it was extremely important. I also explained that I wasn’t asking for a full charge. I was completely fine with only one hour of charging because all I wanted to do was determine if the battery was bad or not. Even after explaining this multiple times, it felt like I had to convince him to do something that should have been a basic customer service request. It honestly felt like he just didn’t want to do it. On my way back, I was unexpectedly delayed after being pulled over and ultimately let go without a ticket. I arrived right around closing and immediately went to retrieve my own battery. I believe I arrived before 9:00 p.m., and I ask AutoZone to review the security camera footage to verify exactly when I got there. Instead of making any effort to help, the employees ignored me until after 9:00 p.m. Then they opened the door only to tell me I was one minute late and refused to hand me my own battery. I wasn’t trying to shop or keep the store open. I was simply trying to retrieve property that already belonged to me. The employees came across as incredibly lazy and unwilling to provide even the most basic level of customer service. From the moment I asked them to charge my battery, I felt like I was bothering them by asking them to do their job. Then, after making every effort to get back on time, they hid behind a one minute technicality instead of showing even a little common sense or decency. If I truly arrived before 9:00 p.m., AutoZone should review the security camera footage. If this is the level of customer service AutoZone stands behind, then customers deserve to know exactly how they’ll be treated when they need help.
