- EWEric WetleAug 25, 20261.0Sent my wife in to get a new tire because the spare tire I put on was dry rotted, had a goose egg lump in it and was making a loud squeaking noise. It was clearly not safe and needed to be replaced with a new tire. She told them to specifically replace the tire that was not safe to drive on. They tried to up sell her on four new tires and she denied it. Then they replaced another tire because it “had lower tread” but was way safer than the other tire that was about to burst. I would never go here again. They obviously don’t know what they’re doing here. Car X didn’t take the time to inspect the tire that was bad. Sad and pathetic to see this Cat X tire shop sent my wife and newborn on the road like this. My wife even called and told them she still hears the squeaking noise and they “guaranteed everything was safe” This shop is inexperienced and unprofessional. Do not recommend.

I’ve been taking my car here for maintenance work and the occasional light repairs for 25+ years and I’ve Never had any problems or complaints. Prices are fairly reasonable and competitive compared to other shops that do similar work. I will continue to bring my vehicles to this location for most of my maintenance and light repair work for the foreseeable future and I would and have recommended them to my friends and family.

Everyone is friendly, helpful, and easy to work with. I especially appreciate that they actually show me the part that needs to be replaced and explain what’s wrong, so I never have to worry about being talked into unnecessary repairs or being scammed. My most recent visit really proved how honest they are. I was quoted for an oil change, battery, one ball joint and one tie rod, but they ended up needing to replace both ball joints. They were able to get two for less, and my final bill was actually lower than the original quote—even with the additional part and labor! Finding an auto repair shop you can genuinely trust is huge, and I know I can trust the team at Glen Ellyn Car-X. They’ve consistently been honest, transparent, friendly, and fair with me. I won’t take my vehicle anywhere else!
